hiya guys!!... no matter what size we are, we always want to loose weight!

i was browsing through a magazine today and noticed that there was a diet section (as always) anyway they suggested charcoal tablets to absorb the fat before it reaches your blood stream and sit in those horrible hip/bum/tummy/arm area's!!

so my question is, has anyone tried these before?

I've heard of them as an aid to digestion, but I'm not sure how healthy it is to take them to aid slimming...xx

Had a quick google. The only thing that charcoal pills do is reduce bloating and gas. Can't find anything to suggest that they help with weight loss.

Sounds like a new fad, last year everyone was knocking back acai pills, before that it was something else. The only way to really do it is to cut the bad things out and exercise more. If anything I found that switching my cups of coffee for green tea and having a cup of cider vinegar and honey a day. A friend of mine has enough supplements and slimming pills in her cupboard to start her own holland & Barrett and none of them worked.

    I can't wait until 29/06/2013
The day I marry the man of my dreams!

Absolute tripe. You can't help where fat sits on your body and if you want to lose fat in a certain place then the only way o do it is to reduce your overall body fat %. Calories in vs calories out is the only full proof way to lose fat. There are loads of pills and stuff out there which might help you lose water (stop bloating) and this will show as a loss on the scale but you will not be losing fat.

They use charcoal to stop people absorbing drugs when people overdose, it basically stops things being absorbed, but its fairly indiscriminate, it wont selectively stop you absorbing the things you dont want to. I'm sure it would work to some extent but I imagine its not at all healthy

There are so many people out there who will tell you
    what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

I agree with Nic, they are for absorbing chemicals in your body. The kind of thing you might take if you're hungover. Could be dangerous as they might absorb medications and stop them from working.

i give them to my dog to stop his trumps smelling bad and to aid his digestion i can't see them helping with weight loss if i'm honest :-\

Good idea for the handover though!

be careful when trying "natural" stuff like pills from holland and barratt. I was recommended vit b tablets for my low blood pressure which made me dizzy when i stood up. got some from H&B took ONE and nearly ended up in A&E! Got round to the pharmacy and the pharmacist took the bottle off me and was shocked that they could sell them, something to do with the levels being far far too high, he threw them in the bin for me and gave me some strong anti histamines asap. He told me to see him next time before buying something like that so he can give me advice (without trying to sell me anything).
