Really looking for some advice ladies!
I had originally thought I would go for a fingertip veil but after speaking to someone in the business, I have been advised not too because firstly, the veil would stop where the detail on my dress ends also and secondly, I am a short a*@e!!!! (apparently makes you look shorter, which I certainly dont need!!!!) She thinks a chapel veil would look great or an elbow. I am not 100% keen on the elbow styles on myself but looove the chapel. Only thing is, its a small day wedding (big party in evening) and everything is being held in the hotel so my concern is that it would look a bit daft! Do you think chapel veils are more suitable to large church style weddings?! Thanks for any advice girls xx

I know! I dont think I would feel like a "real bride" without some sort of veil!
Do you have the veil yet? what width is it?xx

I think the biggest thing that will make a veil overwhelm you would be it's fullness rather than it's length. I say go with what you like best.

Try the veil with your dress and if it looks good then go for it. Don't worry about what you think protocol should be. You can always remove the veil later in the day.

Like th others you need to try it with ur dress.

I said I wouldnt have a veil but when I had one on the other day I started to think maybe I would, however with one dress it looked great with anotehr I wouldnt need a veil as the detail on dress would be lost but if it looks good with the dress and you want it I dont see anything wrong with it at all xx

Go for it, see how it looks and if it looks good why not? You (ideally) won't have another wedding soon so go the whole hog I know I am lol. Saying that, everyone is different. If your gut says yes then brill x

Personally I do think chapel length's are best suited to churches or at least big venue, how ever, really you can have what ever makes you happy.

I'm really glad you posted as I too am fairly short 5"3 and originally on a fingertip veil that I loved. I wasn't sure whether I really wanted it or whether I was just getting swept up in the trying of things in the shop, so i thought anyway I would wait til Jan when the dress arrives to think about veils. Glad you've mentioned this so now when I go back I can really look out for what you've described!

Thanks lady. Sorry I haven't really answered your question though! doh. x

I wondering the same thing my mum thinks I should wear one but I think it will look too busy I'm wearing a shrug on the day so veil on top might be too much, try one on with the dress and see how it looks

hmmmm... food for thought!!! I looove the chapel length veils, tried one on at a wedding fayre but dismissed it because of the price but have found sum1 online who is apparently very good and a total fraction of shop prices!
I guess I would just feel as if something was missing if I didnt have one, but I am a total girly girl and anything that swishes or swooshes is a major attraction to me!!!! :D

should try it first, but just pick whatever you fell comfortable with and whatever that you like, it is your wedding, you only wear it during the ceremony. in the evening you can take it off and style another hair style

I had originally said no to a veil.... as im only getting married in a registry office, but all my friends were really going on at me that I should try one..and when I found my dress, I asked if I could try one...and I loved it, it looked great! Im not going for a full length chapel one...but its a 2 tier 72inch veil I believe. Im just going to wear it for the ceremony...probably will get fed up of it as the day goes on! Its your big day, you dont plan to do it again, so go for whatever you like!!
