Hello Brides,

just some advice,

I went to my wedding venue, its within our budget, I was happy with it until we attended for a wedding fayre yesterday. There is plaster missing off the wall to the entrance of wedding ceremony room.

The wedding reception room has an ugly floor (pointed out by my unhappy mum), im thinking its me being REALLY picky and I do remind myself that I haven't taken notice of any wedding venues floors before.

I need ideas on what I can do, ive put a deposit on the venue, im quite upset now.

True about the floor, my venue has just been refurbished but before that ive seen weddings there and not once did I look at the carpet and think ugly! Ask about the wall and I guarantee they wont leave it itd be bad for their business xx

I would talk to the venue about how you feel.

I never noticed the flooring in my venue. We have been a few time when there has been weddings just so we know how it is set out and how we want things and you cant really see the flooring.

Are you just picking at the floor because your not happy with the venue.

Just remember this is yours and your H2Bs day, everything will work out the way you want it to be.

She's really trying to bring me down, im trying! I LOVE my venue! Such great value for money, the staff fall over eachother to help you and its a great location for everyone

Ask about the wall repair, but bear in mind, as many have mentioned, few will notice the floor... and if its within budget, were you likely to get better for not much more?!!

I know my venue isn't uber glam, but it was free and that had to be worth it over spending hundreds to thousands of pounds on just a bit of space essentially, especially when I'm putting my own stamp on it. If its the wall with a hole, maybe put something over at worst case to cover it or something against it, like the table plan or a stack of balloons/flowers/bay tree/wall of led lights?? If they won't agree to fix it though, I'd ask for your money back if you hate it that much and go somewhere else.

Good, I think they'd need to do it because it would only get worse and cost them more later on!

that's good PoPoem, Do g back in a month o two o check the work has been done. You could hang a pic or a large decoration to cover it, but why should you? you are paying enough for the rental of the place, the least they can do is make sure the wall is plastered properly lol
As for your mum, ignore her negativity. You and your H2Bs opinion on he venue matter, not anyone elses. At the end f the day every one else including family re guests and if they don't like something tough luck! It is a carpet, it isn't something that you can change and who cares anyway, it is something you walk on. It isn't central to your wedding so ignore her commets xxx

yes, she is not happy with the groom, venue, dress....I dread to think what else. She refused to look at ym wedding dress

I went to our venue at the weekend with my parents and of all the things great about it my mum pointed out that a small area of the floor had a slight 'bubble' in it. I said its two years away, that may be fixed by then, and even if its not its such a small insignificant thing that wont ruin the day. Liklihood is the bits your unhappy with will be sorted, but if your absolutely not happy then you should book elsewhere. You wont get your deposit back unless they manage to re-sell your date, and even then they may not be obliged to. My sister cancelled her wedding due to serious medical reasons and didnt get a refund of her £1000 deposit, and they cancelled over 12 mobths before.

My mum doesn't like it! Plaster missing off the walls and im concerned its not WOW enough.

Its causing some friction between me and H2B now ive brought it up.

We've had family falling outs because we are together and he now also thinks that because im doubting the venue im doubting 'us' which im not. I just want the day to be special

The day will be special because it is your wedding day. No venue can make it more or less special, because the day is about your love and commitment to each other.
Can you afford to lose the deposit? If not it sounds like you have a coordinator that can work with you.

i think i found it googled it looked at images and had a look through website and wedding packages and i say tell your mum if she doesnt like it stay at home! it looks lovely and when its set up and you are getting married you will think so too! if you listen to everyones opinions nothing would happen so dont let it get to you! theres some lovely wedding pics from there on google images so lots of people have clearly had a lovely day there and you will too xx

I just don't know what to do now......

I doubted mine for a bit after my mum visited it in August and literally ripped it to shreds, after I had been gushing about how lovely it was. Really put a downer on my view of it as it was all stuff I hadn't seen when viewing - like you the carpet suddenly seemed really ugly after she had pointed it out. But honestly I cannot remember the carpet colour of any other weddings I have been to, so it clearly isn't something to worry about.

Luckily my MOH put things in perspective for me, as she does with everything bless her lol, maybe as CharlieBe-cool said revisit with your H2b and see how you feel. I'm sure you booked it for a reason - try not to let others cloud it for you :-)

You must have liked your venue initially to put a deposit down on it. If you are going to change and both you and H2B are happy with that decision make sure that you don't let others influence you. There is no guarantee your mum is going to love your next venue but you can't keep letting peoples of opinions of the little things change your mind... you will have no budget left!!!! Don't worry too much about what other people think. People are sharing your day and I am sure they will have a great time wherever you choose xx

You should only loose the deposit depending on whenever you have signed a contract or not? And if so what it states? You shouldn't compare your wedding to anyone else's it's YOUR day your way! I'm not bothered what people think it's what me and my hubby want we have the people close to us there xx
