What are your opinions on changing hair colour before the wedding?

I keep getting bored of my brown hair and have been considering going blonde, looking at hair styles for the wedding I keep seeing lovely styles... on blonde ladies, it's just making me more tempted to go for it.

Do you think it's too close to the wedding to go blonde though, will I risk not looking like myself on my wedding day? I get married 7 months today

    I've been doing this too!

I had blonde hair when we met, changed it to vibrant red and a few months ago decided to go brown for the weeding.

Still playing with getting the right shade.

If you change it now you should have time to decide if you like it, just remember if you don't like it, you have to have a redder shade before going brown from blonde. Safest way is to have it done in a salon as they can most likely achieve shades that will suit you better than home kits. (Although saying that, I've always done it myself at home)

I think if you are going to do it, do it now, that way if you don't like it there is time to go back.

I would do it now as a trial run and decode if you like it. If you do, KEEP the box! You don't want to be buying the wrong one closer to the time for it to go wrong after. My mam Always forgets which shade she gets so that's probably the best advice I can think to give! X

I'll have it done at a salon if I do it, going blonde would scare me as there's so much that can go wrong with bleach at home and when I go darker I have to be careful as I can have bad reactions to dye (darker one's anyway), so better to go to a salon and they can do a patch test and also use foils to make sure I don't react.

I have my consultation for my wedding hair tomorrow, while I'm there I'll ask their opinion on it as well and if they think it will suit.

I asked my fiancé what he thinks and he said yeah if I'd be happy to be blonde for the wedding (when I asked what he thought of me going blonde before the wedding I think he possibly thought I'd go blonde then dark again lol) he said about a platinum blonde? But I think I'd want a more natural colour

I wanted to go a lighter shade of blonde so I first had it done in October to see what it looked like. It's not far from my natural colour anyway so not a drastic change. Probably best to trial it now and see what it looks like. Good luck!

You could always have a t cut done or something similar with highlights to lighten it a little, see how you like it and possibly go lighter with time.

I had highlights before and wasn't too sure about them BUT they were very light and my hair was very dark AND I also had a drastic hair cut when I had them done as well, so it was a lot to get used to at once. I wish I hadn't had the hair cut and just stuck with the highlights and slowly had more put in as I had all my hair chopped off and then my fiancé proposed the following week, so I've been growing it back out ever since and my hair is nowhere near as long as it used to be still :(

I've uploaded some pictures to one of my albums, I would appriciate if any of you have the time to have a nose and let me know what you think suits me better.

It was hard to pick photo's to be fair as my hair is a lot longer now, but when I had the highlights it was really short so I've chosen some pictures of me with shorter brown hair as well (just so you can judge on which colour suits me better rather then whether I look better with longer or shorter hair if that makes sense)

    Lovely photos!
I think they all suit you, not much help I know.

I'd say brown looks the most natural on you, but I'd still say try blonde again and see how you feel. You still have time to change it if you decide it's not for you.

I would agree, try it out now. In salons they might well ask you to have a skin test first and then wait 24 or 48 hours to be sure there's no reaction, so plan for having to go twice.

I think you look great with either colour to be honest! But I do lean slightly towards to the blonder, like in the last pic?

My hair was getting darker and darker as I was getting older (was light blonde as a kid), so took the plunge and have been having blonde highlights since September. It's made a huge difference to how I feel, and isn't too drastic a change in appearance really!

I've decided to stick with brown, spoke to the ladies at work and they think I should stick with it and spoke again to my fiancé, he said that if I stuck with brown for the wedding I could always dye my hair later down the line. That way if I got fed up and went dark again it wouldn't be the end of the world and I wouldn't have the wedding pictures not quite looking like me but if I do keep it forever, wedding pics would still look like me as I've nearly always up until this point been a brunette, just with the odd dabble of red hair and those blonde streaks.

Completely agree Donna. I have read from a few sources that they don't recommend any drastic change in appearance for your big day (particulary if you don't often change your appearance), as it may lead to disappointment and regret looking at photo's further down the line.
