So this is it, we have changed our plans (again) and are going for it, with all going well, THIS YEAR! We have decided to stop trying to please other people and do it the way we want. We aren't big on attention and don't want the big party after, so we are having a simple registry office wedding then a meal paid by the guests (only a very few close family and possibly the BFF'S) and if the timing is right going straight on honeymoon/holiday or the following day, depending on flight times. We are taking our two boys with us as we want them to be part of it the whole way through and seeing as it is the joining of our family, they are a major part of it :)

We aren't having the big dress and expensive rings or a reception after. We plan on doing it all for around 2k. My friend, who is invited and one of the only people who knows thinks we should be having a big booze up and party and I should have 'the dress' but that's her wedding ideal, not ours, so we are sticking to plan and if anyone else doesn't like it, tough lol

Very excited an now we don't have that pressure, even the H2B is excited! eeeeeeeeeek, its all happening now :D

Really happy for you :D A lot of people feel you "have" to have a booze up or make a big song and dance about gettng married but if thats not YOU then do it the way you want, after all, its your days not theirs.

My only advice is probably not the best idea to have heading to honeymoon on the same day. My reason for this is I, personally, feel you need to take it all in once its official and have a few moments alone together as a married couple. If you're also anything like me, you will be manic coordnating getting the wedding done and on top of that making sure you haven't missed anything honeymoon-wise. But this is my feelings on that and by no means a judgement on what you choose.

When are you getting married now?

Thanks :) good advice actually I can see my worrying that I have forgotten tickets or something lol. We are planning later in the year, possibly the October half term just so the boys don't miss out on too much school, but its not set in stone. There are some fab holiday deals out if you look for them already so that's been included in the budget. Its nice not to have to worry about getting a dress or suits etc in time. Don't get me wrong we still want to look nice for the occasion, but I'm not spending a small fortune on one lol

I know what you mean. One of my old TL's was exactly the same and if she could get away with just siging the register and leaving it there she would have but her OH wanted to involve their families a bit more so they did a small ceremony in a park pavilion with a meal at a nearby hotel and that was it :) She wore a very nice simple dress too which looked perfect on her.

That's what weddings are about, doing it for what you and your partner want. Good for you.

Yay! So pleased you're doing what is important to you! That's what will make your day memorable.

I agree about the honeymoon, it can be really stressful trying to pack for honeymoon as well as preparing everything for your big day. My sister went the day after her wedding straight from their venue and I saw how stressful it was trying to pack 2 bags, one for the night of and before the wedding because we stayed 2 nights there and also a massive case and day bag for a 2 week honeymoon and the flight. I decided then I'd not go on honeymoon straight after but 2 days after our wedding because I wanted a day between to unpack from the wedding and then time to think clearly packing to go away.
