Do agree with it in manys ways. I don't know if am gonna be here on the 27th though or if I am who else will be in the property on that night, sooo confuzzled with forward planning lol. Have only got half way through it and went a bit braindead.

Good post Ricky!! its REALLY important that everyone fills this in, and correctly, otherwise what is the point?? Its an important resource.
I would imagine that the question about the 27th is kinda like a straw poll, to let them know the % of people that may have visitors, be entertaining or even what areas the population flock to on a weekend. Yes they maybe should have stated the reason for that question on the forms so everybody knows. Maybe they have, I aint got mine yet.

right ok, having read VERY quickly a few things on the website I already see the reason for the "where you will be on the 27th" question. And I wasnt far wrong above.
Census day is the 27th March. They want to know where everyone is ON THAT DAY so they get a clear picture of population, where they are, what they are doing ON THAT DAY. Especially important for bus timetables I would suspect!! How many of us are round at our parents having a big family lunch? how many of us go away for the weekends?

I'm just going to look into my crystal ball and see where i will be on the 27th....................yep, hung over on the sofa....sure they will gain so much from knowing that.
I'll fill it in, but they will not be getting all details as i don't see the point in it and i do not like the way they claim you can be fined for it. It is your choice to give out information and if you don't want to you shouldn't have to.
How many illegal immigrants will fill out the Census forms.............x

Hmm I wonder if there is a penalty for filling it in too early? We got ours through on Monday, me thinking I'd be super organised filled it in Monday night and posted it back to them on Tuesday - Ooopps! Only when speaking to my mum about how silly it was to ask me what I was doing on 27th March when it was so far away did she tell me that its because thats when u fill it in!! hahaha I blame the wedding mushed brain!

I really do not see what the colour of my skin has to do with public services. Surely we are entitled to the same services regardless of our skin colour. If they are wanting to help with costs towards our religions then surely they can just look up the attendance records for each religious building. They already know by my tax records what money I get and if I'm working or not etc so I really can't see what the hell wasting my time over this has to do with anything. Its the biggest waste of money ever. They already have most of the details on record from council tax information etc so why waste our time?

I'm just looking at it again, and I don't see anywhere it asks you where *you* are on the 27th March - it just asks if you have any visitors to your home in addition to the normal residents on the 27th.....
I will be away on the 27th in Blackpool, but I can't see anywhere to indicate that, so you would fill it in as normal even if you are not home on the 27th, as far as I can tell.

Apparently you get fined - never had a problem with it myself.
Part of the reason for filling the census in is so the government can decide what areas need fixing or altering regarding housing, education, health, etc. Granted what they CAN do is down to money too but at least there is a reason.
The days are flying by, can't wait :)

I filled ours in a few days ago and as I went through it I just found myself getting more and more cross to be honest. Felt really invasive, if it is just about statistics then surely it could all be anonymously with the same data but no names on it. Its all a bit 'big brother is watching you and what you are doing in your house' type stuff. As though they are trying to catch you up to something you shouldnt be! Me and H2B were having a bit of a giggle at first with it saying we were planning on having 30 people over on that particular night for a mass swingers session and a few members of parliament would be there too! Makes you wonder how many people are going to be truly honest, if you had your secret lover staying over whilst your husband was away would you write that in?? I understand statistics are important but feel it is a bit intrusive. And I shouldnt have to be responsible for giving details of my familys jobs and their personal details etc without them signing it too but there was NOWHERE for them to sign. I could have put any old rubbish down! The council and tax man between should have ALL that information already.

i can understand getting the basics but its bulky due to some pointless questions. Easier now it can be done online though but its not even an accurate view of the population given the number of ppl who are here illegally etc. Do you really think they are going to be declared on a form like this?

Little old ladies who have no one to help them and are worried sick about this huge form that has landed on their door mat with threats of a fine! THINK OF THE LITTLE OLD LADIES! LOL

those little old ladies will probably be on their 6th census form by now and will probably be experts in the completion of them lol where I work has workers who help people complete them..there is lots of help out there and help comes to you as well if the census office thinks you might be struggling.

lol @ the little old ladies jane! and im sure there are middle aged people in bedsits and flats who cant be bothered either. i dont mind filling the census thing in general, my dad researches our family history and gets so much info from previous census, some of the info they want does seem a little strange tho x

but can anyone think of a valid reason why this couldnt have waited a couple of years until our country isnt in soooo much debt, this census is costing MILLIONS of pounds and will probably run into the billions!!!! What difference would a couple of years make? They didnt do one in 1941, granted for very different reasons, but the country didnt grind to a halt because one census was skipped!
As for it being to allocate the right money to the right services when its needed, if they were to do that then i wouldnt have to wait 6-12 months on a waiting list for an NHS dentist, because they would have allocated the correct amount of funding to ensure there are enough dental services. And little old ladies/men living out in the sticks round here wouldnt have to wait for hours for a bus because they would have seen on the last census that there is a need for a regular bus through that area etc etc. Any other info they need someone somewhere already has!
I will fill it in (as i cant afford a £1000 fine) but if the government announces many more cuts to this that and the other i will be complaining to my local MP and i will ensure they take it further. These cuts are happening because our country is in enormous debt, commonsense would tell you that millions of pounds on a survey that will probably have a load of inaccurate info in it is wasteful!

i hate to be this way but didnt realise the fine was so much and let me get this straight.... we get fined 1000 for not filling in a piece of paper..., some extremist gets 50 quid for burning a poppy. I am not racist but can see why ppl are getting ticked off.

The census was always due to be undertaken this year and so, regardless of the state of the country's finances, would have been budgeted for. I've not had mine yet. When it comes, it'll be my first one :o)
