I have just started to plan our wedding (9th June 2012) and have just joined the forum & was hoping for some advice! We are having a church ceromony and then a reception at a local hall for about 50 and then an extra 100 or so for the evening. I want to have a 3 course meal for the daytime reception and to get this catered, but I was thinking about having a not-to-heavy main meal say cold meats, potatoes & nice salads as (i'm hoping!) the weather will be warm. The problem i have is that I don't know of any caterers and was wondering if anyone knew an average cost per person of this type of food? I then also would like a standard buffet for the evening i.e. sandwiches, sausage rolls etc. Thans for any advice you can offer as i'd like to know an average price before i start getting any quotes.

It really depends on who you go with. I've found it's usually around £10-£40 each person.

Our caterer does a BBQ buffet for £15.95 per person but then they add on service, table linen etc so costs are more likely around £21 per person. Fork Buffets are slightly more depending on what choice of food you have but not including any table wine etc, I'd say it would definitely be between £20-30 per person max.

Im having a cold party food buffet (wedding mid aug) £4.50 per head. We was told that we only cater for the adults as children are not counted as 'per head' portion. Saved us alot! Were gunna go tesco and get some party nibbles for the kids.
