just had consultation with a caterer and not sure if im happy or not. we planned on having just a simple buffet as we know thats what everyone will eat, caterer suggested doing a ploughmans wiht ham, fresh bread(french stick, ciabata etc) with exotic fresh fruit. h2b nows i hate cheese (unless melted) and i hate fruit so all im going to have is a ham and pickle roll not exactly something i want to eat on my wedding day!
tried telling h2b i dont want this but hes got it into his head that this will be better.
the caterer does sound good as we only pay £100 deposit then the rest of the balance after the wedding so its one less thing to pay out before.
its £660 (for 110 people) plus vat so about £780-£800 total. i didnt really want to spend this much on food as thats the dearest thing now. i only budgeted £500-£600.
should i just say to h2b to forget about hiring a caterer ill just do a buffet and save us about £600 but ill have to do it the morning of my wedding

I have voted caterer, I don't think it's a good idea doing the buffet yourself, the last thing you want to do the day and night before your wedding is cooking buffet food for 110, then how are you going to get it to the venue? I would though look around for other caterers, get quotes for buffets that are more what you want, you may find one cheaper and willing to provide the type of buffet food you really want to have x

I have voted the caterer but I do think you need to have another chat with them and H2B and find something you will like also, how about adding in some pork pies or sausage rolls?

I make cupcakes to order and everyone seems amazed that I am not making my own wedding cake BUT the last thing I want to be doing the day before (or in your case in the morning of!) my wedding is making, baking & decorating cake(s)

Saying that though it depends what time you are getting married (we get wed at 1pm) and also how stressed you get (me=very)

The morning of your wedding should be a relaxed, enjoyable & memorable time of you getting ready with your bm's/family, hair make up etc ready for your big day
Not buttering sarnies, baking chicken nuggets and cling filming everything in sight!

he would do the buffet that i want but h2b now wants this ploughmans feast thing, but to me it doesnt give you much variety its either cheese roll or ham roll that you have to make yourself.
my mum and dad would take it to the venue or best man would come over with ushers and help them take it down to venue as the venue is like a 2 min drive from my parents house

H2B needs to compromise a bit it seems, especially if you dont like most of what you will be having hun

Try getting a quote from other caterers like suggested above, they may have other options that will suit you better

I voted caterer but I agree with others that you should speak with H2B and the caterer about having food you actually will enjoy eating on your wedding day x

Does anyone else not think that is massively expensive for a couple of cheese rolls each. I voted buffet, you can include plough mans in a buffet but still offer other options plus you would be paying out sooooo much less, you would just need to invest you time and fridge space!

You should try another caterer that will listen to your requests. The buffet he is offering you sounds a little strange tbh

I'd go for a caterer but not that one! If all your getting is a roll! Getting a caterer will save you do much stress. We done our own buffet for our engagement party and it was just fab, but sooo much stress and I'd never do it on my wedding day! Making my own favours is bad enough!
