When the bride throws the bouquet, at what point do you decide not to join the group trying to catch it? Do you keep going until you're married, or do you stop once you're engaged, or maybe when you've set the date. I'll be attending four weddings before my own, although one of those will only be the service. I'm highly unlikely to catch anything, but would you still go for it?

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I had this exact dilemma about a month after we got engaged. Hubby was best man at well, his best mate's wedding. When the 'all the single ladies' song came on and the bride went up on stage to throw the bouquet, I stayed firmly seated. I didn't class myself as single and nor was I hinting at my h2b to pop the question any more so I thought I'd give the other ladies a better chance :)

I'm not throwing my bouquet, I'm thinking of taking it to my nans grave the day after or something since she couldn't be there.

Ha! I'm the wrong person to ask, I've never wanted to catch it in my life! Generally run in the opposite direction...

Once you're engaged you really shouldn't get up to catch the bouquet, but it doesn't mean you won't catch it anyways. At the last wedding with a bouquet toss I stayed firmly in my seat. However, after goading from the DJ the bride threw the bouquet really hard and it landed in my lap.

Sounds fair. The first time I was in the position to catch the bouquet I was 19, and my aunt and new husband were both marrying for the second time, so the generation of guests meant only three single women. Two of us were not bothered, so we stood back and watched while one lady, who was in a relationship, ran to get it. The only other time I've done it, I stood in the group and allowed it to sail over my head.

At my brother's wedding my sister-in-law had a spare bouquet made of flowers from the garden to throw. I've been at a few weddings where it hasn't been done, but some people like it. I'll throw something; whether the proper bouquet or not I don't know.

The two occasions that I've been there it's been quite civilised; no shoving each other out of the way. Rather boring really :)
