I know this is none wedding related but I just wanted to let you all know about this.
I checked my emails this morning and found that someone has placed an order for a load of games consoles on a Kays account. I also got an email saying thanks for placing your first order - here is £10 off your next one.
I called up their customer service number, was on hold for 1 hour and explained that I don't have a kays account, nor did I place an order with them.
Apparently Littlewoods, very, great universal and kays are all the same company but operate seperately. Someone has hacked into the littlewoods data base and has been using customer details to open up accounts with one of the other catalogues. I'v been put through the the fraud team and she has cancelled the order, asked me to change my passwords for my littlewoods and I have had to email her the emails they sent to me.
They were really helpful and its all sorted now but apparently thats why I was on hold for so long, a lot of people have been affected so I just wanted to let all you ladies know just in case its happened to you too. Scary stuff.

Steffi they just use the details and get extra credit on the other account. I can have about £2500 on littlewoods if I wanted to be stupid but "my Kays account" was another £1000. I think the better your credit limit the more at risk you are because they can get more from another account. Thats why they ordered 2 of each games console! Cheeky effers!
The thing is they wouldn't give me the delivery address but they obviously have to put another one I would get the loot. So they must be able to catch them quickly if they have that.

I just got this:
Dear LISA
Please accept our sincere apologies, it appears there's been a technical error that means we sent you an email earlier today in error.
The email in question is titled 'Welcome to Kays | Enjoy £10 off your next order'. Please ignore and delete this message.
We apologise for this error and would like to thank you in advance for your understanding in this matter.
Kind Regards,

Yeah they sent me that email too Goff after I got off the phone to them.
I emailed them back telling them not to insult my intelligence as the woman from the fraud department told me there was an order placed and that it was the littlewoods data base that had been hacked. I think they should at least come clean instead of trying to cover it up.
Or at least she should have been briefed not to say anything to me, but I suppose as they did place an order so she had to.
CommentAuthorVintageChic
You're right hun they'll be caught from the address they've sent the order to
how can people be stupid enough to do this seeing as how easily they will be caught?
Another thing you're right about... how can they dare to insult their customers by implying there was an "error"? at least let your customers know the bloody truth and encourage them all to change passwords etc like they did via your phonecall! Fair enough it's not their fault they've been hacked but they have a responsibility to their customers to tell them the truth!!!

Yeah thats why I was so mad Stacey when they sent me the other email.
You'd be suprised with the amount of people that get away with it. I work for Orange and I'v had two or three customers recently who have been upgraded over the internet without them knowing. So when they come to pick their new phone we are like "Yeah in 18 months time mate"
It gets sorted out so fast thought which is good. I'm glad they don't mess around. But I think they would save themselves so much money if they just made it so only the account holders address was where the goods were to be delivered to.
