Hiya. We are getting married on a Wednesday July next year in school holidays so thought we would just go for a couple of nights in a spa hotel in the UK after the wedding as it would be so expensive to go abroad then. We are thinking of going on proper honeymoon in September once schools go back and hols become cheaper. I like the idea of Cape Verde as it looks idyllic like Caribbean but without the long flights (not a good flyer!!), has anyone been to cape verde or booked to go. Is it as nice as it looks? Or does anyone have any other suggestions for somewhere that's different and not a long flight? Thanks :)

I've not been but my best friends dad is from Cape Verde. We were also looking at going there this September for our honeymoon but he advised us against it. It is monsoon season there and he said it gets extremely humid, he said the best time weather wise is February. We are going to Dominican Republic now instead. Have you looked at places like Malta and Croatia? Or Morrocco? None are too long hall but all very beautiful places! Xxx
Got together 14.02.2008
Got engaged 31.12.2010
Will become a Mrs on 30.08.2014 xxxxxx

We were looking into going there as it looks stunning. The only thing that put us off was the fact that to receive medical treatment you need to be flown off the island to somewhere else. I have a long term medical consilTion so it ruled that one out for us unfortunately.

It still a 6 hr flight ..... We went few years ago when it was an up and coming resort .... We're a bit thrown by the armed guards at hotel entrance.. And were warned that it's not safe to be out and about off complex after dark ... Having said all that we had a fantastic holiday at a AI Riu resort ... Worked out that there was 1 hr in each 24 that you couldn't get anything to eat lol
Malta would be my second choice Linzi-jo. Went there in 1999 and would love to go back.
I think 6 hours would be my max flight time. I've flown to Crete, Malta and Canadiens before so it would be a bit longer than those. I just think I could cope for 10 hours or so unless someone hit me over the head with a frying pan as nd knocked me out lol
The other option is going on a cruise round the med.
Meant to read the Canaries lol stupid predictive text! I know I've done 4.5 hours and I read it's 5.5 to cape verde. So even if it's 6 I should be ok. Thanks :) Will keep researching and looking at travel sites x
