I've been looking for a kilt suit for my oh but he wants his family tartan. Problem is I can't find one anywhere. And ones I do are like £600-700 which there's no way in hell I'm paying.i found one on 3bay but their suppliers discontinued his family tartan so only size available is 30 waist and my oh a 32-34 :( anyone know where I can get one? I was hoping to buy rather than rent but only looking at £200 max to spend. The tartan is Campbell of argyll.

Not a "real" kilt I know but it's the right tartan if you're desperate x

Kilts are normally made from wool and tend to be 8 yards long which can make them quite expensive especially for the more unusual tartans, the cheapest wool kilt that I've found is £180 but it's only 5 yards and I don't know how that will affect the look as we paid for a 8 yard for my OH and they start at around £275 from the company that we got ours from, hope this helps if I can help any more just shout and I'll do what I can

Ah sorry forgot about links being removed. Thanks for posting to your wall. Traditional kilts are made from heavy wool. The one I posted is made of poly viscose and is still 8 yard. People buy them for informal events like ceilidhs and rugby etc but in my opinion they still look the part.
Hope that helps (they cost about £50-60)

To buy the full kilt outfit you be looking around £800/£900 each, in most cases it is cheaper to hire but it depends what kilt you are looking for most places only hire the popular ones... There is a place in Musselburgh where we have got ours from and have a good selection to hire and buy, they also have an online site if you require the information please let me know. xx

I had h2bs kilt made, 8 yards and whatever pleat it was, its beautiful and swings better than my dress and his flashes in matching tartan for £315. If i was to have bought the jacket and stuff with it it would of been closer to £450. I had to have his made to as no one ever in there right mind would hire his tartan! Ancent hunting frazer, but its his family tartan, there was a few on the bay of e i saw tho that were hand made 8 yard from Edinburgh for £150 ish.

Thanks ladies, will keep on looking. Think I found one for 650/700 so will put that as a reserve. I thought of buying as its not something u get the chance to buy every day, but on the other hand not sure how often he'd actually wear it x
