Hi everyone! I'm in desperate need of help! I have found my absolute dream dress - pronovias alcanar. But it's way beyond what I can afford for our budget wedding. I've been trawling the Internet to find one in the sale or second hand with no luck so far. I'm starting to lose hope. Does any one have any advice? Or should I start dress hunting again with my budget in mind and try to forget about the dream dress??

Thank you so much in advance for any support!!

    Xxx

Have you thought of using the woman who can't be named. I'm thinking of using her to help keep costs down. Some of the ladies on here have used her and gave good reviews. I think the link is on my wall. X

I was so tempted by that company when I was dress shopping, s just a shame she doesn't do dresses by the designer who made my dress. She's had so many amazing reviews x

I know you say it is beyond your means, but have you enquired about a payment plan with the shop? I never really thought about a budget for my dress, but I knew the one I wanted was expensive, fortunately I knew someone at the shop who got me a huge discount but still I had to pay in bits. Might be worth enquiring so that you get the real mcCoy.

How long until you get married? There may be time for it to go on sale or on one of the second hand websites xx

exactly what I was thinking. If it's a newer dress it might be a while before they enter the preloved market

if you are prepared to wear ex sample...wait until the new stock is due in ( i know a shop in edinburgh is having a huge sale due to new stock arriving in a few weks) You could go back and try on and ask how much to buy the sample xx

First of all, have you actually tried it on? It's just that I fell in love with a pronovias dress, and, while I didn't try to actual dress on, I tried two very similar ones, and they didn't look or feel right at all. Point being, if you haven't tried it, it's impossible to say it's actually your dream dress.

If you have tried it on, then I'd say you have four options:

    1) Visit more shops, and only try on dresses within your budget. I personally believe that as with men, there is more than one dress for everyone; I don't believe in 'the one'. You may well fall in love with something that's within budget.

    2) Phone stockists and see if they are having a sample sale, or if they are prepared to sell you their sample. If it's a newer dress, the chances might be lower, but it's worth a try.

    3) Check out sites like the bay/preloved sites, and see if you can pick one up second hand.

    4) Consider having it made, either through a replica site, or having a similar one made by a local seamstress.

    HTH!

    Hi Everyone,

Thank you so much for all your advice with everything. I have tried the dress on and size 8 is a perfect fit wouldn't need any alterations. I am getting married next august and only just joined this forum so i am sorry i am not sure what i am doing or how i can change my settings so people can post on my wall.

I have hunted around for a preloved second hand and i would be quite happy in that or sample. It is just a case i think of being patient and hoping something turns up!!

But thank you everyone for all your advice i hope i can return the favour somehow one day!! xx

have you asked about buying the dress you tired I have been to a couple of dress shops today and both offered to sell me the sample I tried on at a reduced price or order me one in for the full price also if you have plenty fr time before the wedding wait as long as you can then go back and see if its in the sale. Again one of the shops I was in today had a new season 2013 Amanda Wyatt dress that should have been £1200 in the sample sale for £450 so some dresses don't stay in the shop more then one season x

have you tried it before? a lot of dresses look stunning but when i tried it on, most of them fit me not so good.
might you could choose other wedding dresses.you must know your body shape, then you will know which kind of dress fits u perfectly.
i have ordered a dress from internet, surprisingly, the lady from the website called me and asked if I want to tailoring the dress according to my own measurement, they provided custom made service. it took 20 days to prepare the dress and of course, it fits good. i have put the address to my wall, hope it helpful
