so we had to cancel our venue :( we was quoted one price when we originally went to view the venue, went there today to hand in our deposit to find that the quote had gone up a hell of a lot!! Then the lady was extremely rude to us so we just left! I ended up leaving there crying. So now the hunt is back on to find a venue for our reception.

I was in shock too!! She basically spoke to me and H2B like we was children :( I hope i can find another venue that is within our budget now. Just glad that we have plenty of time x

LauraJo87 we was quoted £10.50 per head for the buffet and then was told that the lady we spoke to must of misunderstood what we wanted but the buffet is £14 per head. which isn't bad but when you have 200 guests it is quite an increase. Then when we said that we wouldn't want waitresses or the china plates she said "oh so you want your guests eating off paper plates? Nice!" I was horrified x
Yowch that is a big increase....she sounds like an idiot though...if someone lost a wedding party that large at my hotel, I'd blooming sack her!

H2B wants to write a complaint but i really don't think that its going to get us anywhere :( just really cant believe that this has happened. I was so excited about going to put down our deposit today and then because of this its just making me dread finding another place, just in case the same thing happens again. Why do people never tell you how stressful wedding planning really is?! :(

Velcro, I really do feel like we are the only ones that have to go through the stress of all this :( Nothing can ever be simple when it comes to wedding planning!! We are gonna go and view 2 more halls on Thursday so fingers crossed we can find something. There is one that i really do like the look of and if it is what i think that it is then i am going to put down the deposit there and then :) I had a look at a few pictures online and it really does look lovely. Lets just hope and pray that it lives up to the expectations that we have :)

you should do! snooty cows like that must lose loads of places business, id not want to deal with someone like that for the next year and a half, my wedding woman at my venue is lovely and shes happy enough to let me bombard her with my 20 questions and absurd requests
Id throw in that she was wholly unprofessional as well and completely unapologetic considering this wasnt your fault.
Makes my blood boil and its not me it happened too, argh! theres just no excuse for it, id be grovelling if i were her and id either honour it, or try to get as close to the quote as possible/throw in some freebies for the inconvenience

Make sure you get your next lot of quotes in writing! NEVER get quotes over the phone, always via email or letter!
This way it doesnt matter if the "other woman misunderstood" youve still got it in black and white there and they have to offer things at the quoted price.
at a wedding last year the wedding coordinator at the venue had not left a paper trail, then left, so her manager whilst trying to hire a new coordinator had taken over the weddings currently booked, but due to know paperwork being left and everything in the last woman head, she knew about nothing! Luckily there were quotes in writing,went to visit to give them an ultimatum to shift their bottoms into gear before the Bride & Groom found out something was terribly wrong! they were given copies of all the paperwork regarding the venue (including a checklist which included a personal review of the venues cleanliness i might add) and by the time left (i was given a free lunch for the inconvenience of having to go down their to kick their bottoms) so in the end there was a contract written up and presented which included everything B&G wanted including the prices quoted at the time of first contact ( emails had been printed off showing quotations).
So make sure you get everything in writing! even if your just enquiring about quotes with caterers or DJ's etc. unless it states ON THE QUOTE "prices are subject to change" then they HAVE to give you what was quoted for the price it was quoted!
Find out who you are & do it on purpose!

Becky1608 It was The Springhouse in Stanford Le Hope. It is normally a really good place and the only reason we went there is because so many people have had their weddings there. x

that is terrible customer service, even if you feel that getting nowhere by complaining to the venue. I would still complain anyway they should not treat you in this way. But it is their loss and just think how many other people they will lose if she continues to treat people in this way. It is just not acceptable. These things happen for a reason and you may just find that the venue you do find is absolutely amazing. Let us know how you get on.

UPDATE: We just went and viewed the hall that i was talking about last night and it is stunning!! I really like it and the best part is it is much cheaper by like £500. we just need to arrange the dj, decor and some other bits ourselves. Very big bonus! I'm a happy bride to be now :D
