i am just wondering if its still ok to have a table plan for guests even if your only having a buffet as the food? as me and my partner have thought about doing this instead of a wedding breakfast as we are wanting a afternoon wedding and also to keep the costs down lol

Yes you can. It helps as sometimes people can take up seats and then when a larger family group want to sit together they can't. It doesn't matter that its a buffet as they can go and get their food and then go and sit down again.

Yes, i've been to lots of weddings that have had a buffet style wedding breakfast and they have all had seating plans. What usually happens is they have you go to the buffet table by table so theres no large queues forming and as Jo said you have family etc sitting together then :)

The bride and groom usually have theirs brought to them but it's up to you and yes the top table will go first. As for having the buffet in the same room, yes of course you can. It's your day and you can decide how you want rooms etc to be laid out. The orders of service are optional really, you don't have to send them out so don't stress too much. I know what you mean with having so much to think about. I think my head is fit to burst any day now lol xx

Yep like Chrissy said that bride and groom go first ( I would get my own rather than someone else putting their fingers all over it and giving me something I don't want) then the top table. Every one else descends afterwards. Most people form an orderly queue so its not like you will have a stampeed on your hands. The weddings I have been to have had the top table at the back of the top table and to the side so you can put it where ever is the most practical for the room.

yeah i dont think i would like dirty fingers over my food lol yeah we have got to go and look at the first venue we have thought about but we are not allowed to start the after the wedding thing till 7 is that 2 late after a afternoon wedding to have buffet and party? we only are looking there because its more practical for the h2b family to get to as there coming down from leeds lol and that venue is next to the reg office :? obs we dont want them to have to travel even more so really we are stuck lol

You can have what you want. This is at least organised so everyone has a seat and theres no chaos.

we are having the buffet in a separate part of where we are all seated but will still be accesable (sp) just saves room on having to move tables around etc

We're having a table plan-but not officially structured seats. We're laying the table as u would 4 a sit down then guests can carry their plate up. Know that seems a bit silly but the tables will look much nicer on arrival we think?
