I asked this question too babe as this will be my second wedding. There is a post about it somewhere in the categories.
But i think its up to the church you want to get married in? So i suggest that you phone them up and ask. Some do some won't.
I think it's LJO on here, thats getting married in a church and she's divorced, so your really better of asking babe.

Sorry if its not you LJO :-)

You have a connection to the church (as you were christened there), so if you weren't divorced you would be able to get married there. I'm not sure but I believe you can't have a church wedding if you are divorced? Something to check out though is whether you can have a blessing. This is not legal BUT you just do the legal paperwork first in a registry office (in your jeans if you like) then get 'married' later in the church. However, it is up to the Vicar how similar to a 'real' wedding the blessing is. Some will make it just the same, others have all kinds of restrictions. I would imagine it would help that you were christened. In a nutshell - it is up to the vicar so give him a call.

you can have a church wedding if you have been divorced but it is down to the vicar ... as some hold firmer beliefs than others ... you just need to talk to them

It's up to the individual church, I went to a wedding last year where the vicar wouldn't marry them because they were both divorced but she would do a blessing so we went to the town hall for the marriage, church for the blessing then on to the reception. It was lovely. Might be an option at least. xx

My h2b is divorced and we are in progress of booking church. It completely depend on the vicar of the church u want to marry in. Because u were christened there it should go for you if you don't live in the parish. They will proverb ask why u got divorced and as long as u didn't get divorce because of having a relationship with your now fiancée ( I.e cheating on ex husband with h2b) and few other question should be fine but complexity up to vicar. Get in contact and find out :) x and good luck x

It depends on the vicar really. My friends got married in a church and one had been divorced.

Just to add to what the other ladies said, I think it also depends on the Church, for example the Catholic church I think is stricter that say CofE on this subject and there are more hoops to jump through.

Hope you get it sorted and you can have your Church wedding though hun xxx
