Hi ladies. We are planning on a 2018 wedding but I'm really worried that getting back in to work after finishing my course may take longer so obviously paying for things may suffer. I really don't want to miss out on certain aspects so are venues lenient when it comes to changing the dates without loosing deposits?

It depends entirely on the venue and their own policy/contracts. I know some people have managed to change dates with no bother but some venues may have a different approach.

Some venues may let you change the date without penalty but you will need to speak to them and negotiate this.
Remember it wouldn't just be the venue, it would be the registrar, photographer, cake, flowers, hair, make-up. You would need to agree with everyone to change your date or be flexible with who/what you had

My venue says that the deposit is non transferable but it's only £500, I'm sure if you ring theyd be flexible; I guess it really depends on how popular the venue is, how much time you give them and therefore how likely they are to fill that date again
I won't be booking the cake and decor, flowers, photographer etc with the venue as have chosen to shop around for better deals to save on cost. And because I'm very particular as to what I want. I will make sure everybody is aware of the possibility before booking to make sure that it won't inconvinience them.
Thanks ladies. I'm just getting really frustrated with having to push the date further as it is

I would be prepared for the possibility that all your suppliers may not be able to accommodate flexibility... suppliers will get booked up very quickly.

Even if they are willing to change they may be booked for your revised date.
