I was wondering how much it is setting you back. I like the idea but will only have one if we have the money and it will be a last minute thing if we do get it.

    What did yours cost
Did they come with bowls and scups
Did you buy bags or boxes for the guestd to put the sweets in
How many differet kind of sweets do you have
did you stay in your colours or just get everything

    Sorry about the questions

well we haven't quite finished ours yet but i'll tell you what we ahve so far

a clip jar each from ikea 89p (80)
sweet jars from tesco's 99p (10) but think they have gone up to £1.99 now they are just glass biscuit jars
sweet scoops good old ebay 6 of them for £12(ish can't remember)

I will maybe put a bow or tie ribbon on all jars etc just to tie it all in together!

I bought personalised love hearts when they were on offer ages ago and 1kg box of swizzle mattlow sweets when there was an offer on too. we will also go to makro to buy other sweets .

i reckon it will cost us £200 altogether once its all done but i bought some of way back last year to cover the cost

    hope that helps a little

    xx

Our pick and mix comes with the price of the chocolate fountain so we're paying £400. Both are unlimited for three hours and manned and replenished.
The pick and mix will have our name on the front and the sweetie bags will have our name too. We get to choose our favourite 20 out of 100. Now choosing our favourite 20! hmmmm

    Just a different option. x

We are asking guests to suggest their favourite sweets on their r.s.v.p (as well as our own) We will choose around the 20 most popular. We want it all colourful and with different sizes to keep it interesting. Weve already got the different size jars, bags, scoops, a candy grabber and gum ball machine which we are going to fill with smarties for the kids. Spent just over £50 so far. Weve worked out that 20 varieties of sweets should cost no more that £130 from our local cash and carry. xxx

I was going to do my own.. but then my event dresser said she would do me one that would cater for 90 people, for £165.00 for that we get 12 jars filled with either colour co ordinated or retro sweets, bags scoops, and table decorated and swagged.

I thought tha was a really good deal, and saves me the hassle on the day xx

I'm not sure what ours is costing exactly as it is part of our venue dressing, and it comes to £350 for chair covers, bay trees, linen and exploding balloon and of course the candy buffet. I am happy with that, and as far as I know it comes with scoops and bags, but haven't asked that yet, lol.

Hi hun. I havent read the whole thread (banging headache and was just quickly popping on) but I was looking at doing my own candy buffet so was researching it online, having a look at other peoples pictures etc when I come across a picture of someones evening reception, in the background you could see that they have cupcake stands full of sweets on every table.. it looked awesome! So I had a look about and you can get cheapy cup cake stands for less than a tenner if you really hunt high and low, decorate them with your colour ribbon, pop to a makro or buy bulk sweets off ebay, chuck them on the cup cake stands and your well away. You can then just stick a scoop and a few bags on each stand and everyone can help them selfs.. or to keep the numbers down just put them on the smaller table that you would of used in the day time for your cake!

Im planning to have one as my favours, havent priced it all yet but so far
100 white paper bags £2.99 inc postage (decorating them with gold hearts cut out from some metallic paper i already had.)
glass vases/jars/dishes are various prices, going to get a selection of different sizes and shapes from charity shops/supermarkets/dun elm/ wilko's etc, they arent much more than a couple of pounds each.
sweets i'll buy in bulk from bookers as we have a card
rather than scoops which can seem expensive for what they are, im probably going to get large/deep spoons/ladles and tie a ribbon around them (looks good in my head)

I really wanted to have a candy table but wasn't sure it was gonna be cost effective so what we decided to do is have each table named after a sweet, and on each table have the table centre piece with those sweets and a sign saying help yourself as these are gonna be the favours aswell and i'm hoping it will get people to mingle around each table too. The kids are all having lollies with their names on as their own personnal sweet favour.

i bought the vases for our sweet buffet yesterday and spent £33 on 7 bowls ( 3 round on a foot, 2 lower bowls and 2 short martini vases) £4 on 200 purple stripe sweet bags and can get 5 scoops for £10 yet to order tho all i need now is the sweets themselves then i'm done

am catering for 150 just need to finalise costs and amounts i would need not looking to go over £100 if poss then i'll sell the bits on after to get some money back

if anyone wants info on where i got the bits let me know i went on a bit of a bargain hunt xx

A certain I KEA store do a huge range of jars really cheap - we got our for 60p each called Forvar jar with lid. Its angled so the scoop can go in easy and they hold 1.8 litres so quite a good size. We got a few of the long tall glass jars too for £2.65 each to add some interest...tall ones look good filled with flying saucers etc..
