Ok, I'm after any and all help on wedding cake and toppers!

How much is 'normal' to spend on a wedding cake? I'd like three tiers; a fruit layer, a sponge layer and a chocolate layer, preferably with soft icing as I really don't like royal icing.

I've been looking at wedding cakes from a well known highstreet shop and I've found one which I love which is £219. Is that a lot? Not a lot? About right? It feeds 144 people which is way more than I'm inviting!

Now, toppers. I either want one with a Suzuki motorcyle or just a nice simple normal one. Can anyone offer any suggestions where to find one?

    Thank you in advance!!

You can get silver motorcycles on bay of e :) Also the price varies i know supermarket cake isnt always as nice at a cake made at home as freeze them, then re-freeze them etc it takes alot of the best bits out of the cakes. Some home decorators could do it for around that price if there just starting out other will charge you £100's more lol

what we arehaving is a funny cake topper with the groom running away and the bride pulling him back and also we wanted to include our two collies so we got 2 models out of a childrens shop for the second teir and they look fab all for under £10. As for the cake £219 i think is quite expensive especialy if is way more than your inviting how about having a smaller 2 teir cake then if you need extra you can get a kitchen cake for them to cut. Hope this helps xx

Hmm, you've got me thinking! I could get a couple of specific bike models from a shop and include that with a normal bride and groom :-)

Lol, my fiance and I are both bikers and we want 'proper' bikes on the cake :-)

A workmate is making a copy of a cake we saw on a local cake makers website. She reckons it will be about £150. I found the exact toppers the cake company used on the bay of e for about £15 for the two. My eldest son who work's at a well known supermarket beginning with T is getting me an iced fruit cake on the cheap as a kitchen bar ;)

Hey, my brother had a really cool topper for his wedding day so I used the lady he used. We are having ourselves and our cat but she'll do motorbikes and stuff for about another £20.

Its costing me £45 inc delivery. Not a lot of detail on the face but very cute and quite quirky.

Ill post a link on your wall

mine is costing about £450 and thats for 4 tiers but she is an amazing cake maker and i didnt want anyone else after i saw her work.

i think £219 is a good price for that amount of people. not sure on cake toppers as i dont need one with my cake but the bay is usually a good place to start x

Also Kastobe.. if you like the look of 3 tiers have you though about having a 2 tier with the 3rd as a cake dummy.. its basically just a fake cake that cant be cut which is great when you want the look but not the excess cake. :)
