I've been considering making the trip across the channel to do our wine and champagne shopping and was just wondering if anyone has done this and if so do you have any tips on best places to go or reasonable priced wines which you could recommend?
Thanks Debs

It's not always that much cheaper these days... Most venues do a good rate on decent wines and will charge quite hefty corkage on own wines, as will catering companies. We looked at the wine list being offered first, and it was pretty decent. We were prepared to end up paying a few quid more per bottle for the wine and corkage if the wine list was crap as quality is important to us!
However, for the toast, which we're allowed to do corkage free, we're bringing over a prosecco from Italy next time we're out there.
And we lived happily ever after!

We're having a marquee wedding and providing all the booze so won't be an issue with the corkage, I just wasn't sure if there were any decent wines in these warehouses in Calais? Thanks for your advice anyway.x

Please. Make sure of the amount you are allowed to bring back if you go over it will all be seized
Do you have a C0stc0 and/or a M@kr0 near you? They can be a good source for bulk buying alcohol.

I've always thought personal use meant as much as an average person would use or drink in six months...
That said, my cousins dad did this for there wedding however they were going to France anyway...I suppose it's probably best to price it all up with the cost of travel etc and then compare it to what you'd get over here....
