Butterfly releases? Never heard of one! Not sure if they'd be possible.. with dove releases, don't the doves come back?? A butterfly release bod would have to find a new set every time!

But I've seen a lot of butterfly related wedding stuff, wouldn't be hard to incorporate butterflies into stationery, favours etc.

I'm going to be having some butterflies on my dress, but they arent the theme of the day. My mum makes some lovely butterflies out of silk cotton, so going to sew some into the design of my dress. xx

hiya everyone i have done quite alot of research on butterfly releases and so far most of the people that do it only breed them for releases.. it is cruel to do it in the winter, as thats not when butterflies are about... so the chances of having a breeder that will do it in winter is rare, in the boxes that u get them in it is also very rare that they die, altho there is a couple might so they send xtras... plus the butterflies when released just go on and live their normal life in the world.. :D as it is summerish. lol
    xx

if you google butterfly releases uk then it comes up with a few sites - expensive though £150 odd for 20 butterflies..

I think butterflys are pretty and they signify new beginnings. I can see the attraction of a butterfly release but i would worry about them in little boxes just for my pleasure. Kayleigh, out of interest, why would you want a frozen butterfly? X

Butterflies are bred to be released...not necessarily a bad thing to release native species as our nations lepidoptera are facing drastic declines. However, I do understand those who have an ethical issue with containing butterflies in boxes, even if in a state of torpor.
I'd be interested to find out what species they release!

Best thing you can do is read up about it and make sure the company is reputable.

@Mrsr2b - the handmade items website has some gorgeous butterfly cake decorations and have you seen the luly yang butterfly dress?

I was debating having a shoulder streamer dress and sewing hundreds of 3d artificial butterflies on to the streamer by hand, however I suspect this would weigh it down too much.

Unless I want to drown a butterfly; don't think I can incorporate them into my aquatic theme ;) They are a lovely idea though; there are some great suppliers who release doves, butterflies e.t.c; you just need to look around :)

Lol im afraid of birds, and my venue supply's them as no extra cost but will be asking him to lock them up on my wedding day as hate them , and one if my good friends are terrified of butterfly's! We always joke about blindfolding her and taking her to a butterfly farm seeming as she shoved a parrot into my face!
