Hello, we have seen a venue for our wedding which is 10 miles from both our families home town, they live in different towns. Although only 10 miles, it is a bit out of the way, guests would need to drive or taxi. We dont know whether we should put on busses or not. I dont think we should as 10 miles is not that far. If we put on a bus we would have to make it a neutral place so that everyone could leave form the same place. This would mean guests would need to get transport to the bus. If I was going to a wedding at this venue I would either ask family/friend for a lift, drive or get a taxi, to be honest I would not even consider getting public transport to a wedding! Wondering what your thoughts are, is 10 miles acceptable to ask guests to make their own way? Thanks!

I think a lot of people just expect to find their own way there. We were thinking of a coach just because the church has poor parking but it will be around £500! And just worked out too be more work than it's worth so we aren't bothering but I think some are looking at taxi or a mini bus but that will be up to them to organise. I would start off letting them find their own way and if they start complaining then maybe reconsider doing a bus or coach but I wouldn't make more work for yourself not when it's not that Farrar them to travel :) x

I agree we have buses going from church to reception but unless someone asked us to arrange transport (which would be very unlikely) I wouldn't bother just let them arrange it I am sure you have enough going on than to have to start thinking about that I know it's far to travel but if people want to come they will make it happen

We got married around 20 miles away from most family and friends, we had a church ceremony then reception about a 15 minutes car journey away. All guests made their own way to the church and then reception venue, no transport was provided by us.

Guests should not expect any transport to be provided.

I don't think there is any need to provide busses. I've seen it done once, in London from a church in one bit of London to a venue in another bit. That worked as the church didn't have much parking and most people got there in taxis or on the underground. However I would always assume that I need to make my own way to any wedding.

I would only consider transport if we specifically chose wedding and reception venues that were a fair distance (30 miles +) apart. 10 mins is a perfectly reasonable distance and your friends and family shouldn't need transportation for that distance x

10 miles isn't that far if I am honest. When we picked out reception venue we were looking at venues max 10 miles from the church as that's what we considered acceptable.

Guests shouldn't expect for transport to be provided and is just one more thing for you to worry about. I would leave it as it is.

We've put on a vintage bus for our guests because parking at the church is limited with it being in a country village. The reception is a 25 minute drive - I think it'll just make the day a little bit more special and the bus tied in with the theme it's not something that gueats expect though in my experience

I am putting on a bus because my benue is 60 miles away and even by public transport nce you get off it is still a 2 mile walk to the actual building. in your case a taxi split 4 ways wont be much. taxi will prob be about £15 each way. let people make their own way xx
