    Hiya!
I was just wondering what your honest opinion would be to....

I would love bunting inside my marquee for my country themed wedding. Cotton/fabric bunting to buy is fairly expensive so I was hoping to make it myself. I was thinking about asking inside the invites that if guests wanted to add something personal to our day then they could make and send a flag for the bunting a few months before the wedding (i stole this idea lol). I think it sounds like a lovely idea but don't want people to feel like they have to? Also is it rude to request that they are in pastel colours? As I am worried that the colours the guests may choose may clash with my inital idea! :)

What do you think ladies? I would like your honest opinion - if it sounds like too much to ask then I will just make it myself as originally planned!!

I was thinking of making the invites bunting themed! Maybe making mini paper bunting and writing the invite on it? that way people can hang it in their homes/accross their pin boards if they wanted to? :)

the only thing with asking ppl is they may not find time and you could be waiting around for them xx

If you are going to ask people to make them (which is a lovely idea!) then I think you would need to enclose a template as you'll end up with lots of different sizes otherwise. It's not rude to ask for pastel colours as that's the theme you are going with & I think your invites sound really cute. But I do think Jen's right in that you will prob be waiting around for them to come back...

What about instead of a guest book have some ready made and guests can write a comment on and then hang them up so that by the end of the evening you'll have it all around the marquee... x

I think its a great idea but like Jen said it would have to be done well in advance so ask the guests to have them completed by a certain date which will give you enough time to make more if need be. Not only asking for pastel colours I would also give them a size. Maybe even a template and instructions on how to do them. They would look a little odd if they are all different shapes and sizes. Hope that helps.

Yeah good idea I will have to make a little instruction letter with a template inside :) I was going to make as many as possible anyway so even those who don't get it back to me/bother to make them I will hopefully still have enough, I just thought that guests may like the little personal touch :)

If I were your guest I would love the idea. Do expect people to wander off around the marque looking for their flag. I know I would ;p

We made some for a birthday in the summer and they were really easy to do (Although ours were just made from paper). It didn't take us long and ended up being quiet long. It goes a lot faster if you can get someone to help you. We had one person cutting and one sticking. Good luck.

We made ours last night, was really cheap, probably £10 max when you buy the ribbon, fabric and sew it on. Used pinking sheers to cut the triangles so the edges dont fray.
