We have decided on a finger buffet after the ceremony for our all day guests, followed in the evening with a hog roast and chocolate fountain.
The original plan had been that a group of us would spend the day before (friday) preparing the food. I was happy to do this, it was my idea as i didnt trust anyone else to get it all done lol.
Well last night h2b sat at the computer. Turns out he was looking at the M&S party food platters! There is all sorts on there. He asked me our budget for buffet food and i replied approx £400. This is because out of all the caterers who gave us quotes the average figure was around £9pp for finger buffet and i estimated that to include service charge and profit so figured approx £4pp would be simples, then rounded our 90 guest list up to 100 to provide a little bit extra :D
Well, he has had a look and can get a large supply of sandwiches, rolls, sausage rolls, chicken (roasted marinated and indian style), smoked salmon blinis, cheese and tomato fritatas, mini jellies, mini cupcakes and fresh fruit tartlets and a few other bits and pieces including a cheese board for £300 from M&S. This leaves us with £100 to get a joint of beef and ham to cook and slice, salad bits, dips and crisps. I am chuffed with this as its within budget and will mean i wont have to spend ages preparing food the day before my wedding :D I like the M&S platters, the future inlaws have bought them before for family occassions so i know that the quality is good, i just never thought we would be able to get enough to feed everyone within budget so hadnt even bothered looking.

Ooh I never knew they did platters!! This could come in really handy as we're having a family party the day after and my mum had a bit of a moan at the weekend saying she didn't want to be entertaining straight after the party!

He has gone into planning overdrive now. Was at the national wedding show at the weekend and booked and paid for our wedding cake (without me, i was on my sisters hen lol) He has created a data base for our guest list with all addresses etc so that he can print out the invites and envelopes. He has been in touch with the winery to put an order in for our mead (1st drink instead of champers)
I love him so much, i think coz we are on the 6 month count down its all systems go! :D
