After having a meeting with our venue yesterday I am thinking of finding somewhere else and getting caters to come in.

I have found a carter who do buffets and we can hire everything off them, Plates, knifes, forks etc.

If we did two buffets, one for the wedding breakfast and one for the evening would it be too much?

Their menu choice is huge so we can have different things on each one. They also do different packages.

    Basic - 1 option A, 1 option B and 2 option C
    Standard- 2 option A, 1 option and 2 Option C
    Mighty- 2 opitons on each
    Fully loaded- 2 options on A & B and 3 on C

I'm thinking of fully loaded for the evening and catering for 90 (will be 130guests if all come/stay).

Which one would you do for the wedding breakfast? (will be 70 guests)

Or would you get rid of the wedding breakfast invite all guest to everything (church can hold 300) and do one large buffet ?

Sorry for so many questions. I'm so unsure on it all.

hi Tiffany, what time is your wedding? As if it's an early wedding and a long day having just the one might leave people hungry and drinking too much to fill up, but if it's a later wedding it won't be an issue x

with your wedding being later in the day i wouldn't think it will be a problem to just have one large buffet. if your ceremony is at 3 it will last til around four, photos til around five ish whilst your guests mingle and then the buffet at around six/seven would work but maybe it would be a good idea to put out a candy cart or something out whilst photos are being taken just to carry people over until they can eat x

I agree with Nicole, if you have the evening buffet early you can get away with just the 1

I feel you could just get away with one big one early on in the evening and maybe just a couple of canapé bits earlier on in the day. I like the look of the popcorn machines and ice cream vans but we already have a sweet cart

Thanks ladies. We have a sweetie cart already but want a chocolate fountain as well, with donuts and marshmallows etc if the budget allows.

Emailed the venue we are currently looking at as oh really wants it there and told them my concerns. They are going to see what they can do and get back to us. H2B is being a nightmare regarding venues.

We got married at 3pm, our ceremony and reception were at the same venue. We only had the one meal which was a Buffett for the wedding breakfast. It was a nice one though with nice meats etc. As it was at the same place they had to turn the room around so we ate about 530/6pm, so didn't need to do an extra meal for the evening.

Yes I woukd say more than enough for 1 big buffet- they only think I would do is for the evening only guests ( of yiu have any) is to say that there is either no buffet or if you are having a sweet carts- sweets or something so they know they need to eat

Thank you everyone. Venue finally got back to us and have come up with a compromise that we are happy with. They are bending over backwards for us. It turns out they know my h2b's family very well.

Defo agree you only need one meal if your ceremony is at 3pm. You could just invite everyone if you want to feed your evebing guests x

^^ that's what we did in the end. When making our guest list we had so many we wanted at the whole event so went for the later wedding so only fed once.
