I thought it was per head, but there are some places that you can just give them a price range and they'll work to suit you :)

I think you are meant typically pay for 75% of the guest who are coming - just don't tell the venue the exact number x

Defo agree with Laura_Ann, don't tell the venue exact numbers as most say you need to catter for every guest but you never need all tht food xx

No, I'd even pay for 50% of guests, because depending on the time you're having the buffet, some people may have already eaten and won't want too much!

I have 120 guests approximately but I'm catering for 150, just to make sure there is enough food lol.
I'm not having a sit down meal as I find them to formal, so will need lot's of food to feed my hungry guests lol x

I wouldnt cater for 150 - I would maybe cater for 100. I did the buffet for my engagement party, we had 75 come, I catered for 50 and there was still loads of food left over, everyone got to take a doggy bag home! xxx

I'm buying for about 75%-80% as not everyone will eat the same amount. I wasted over £1000 at my engagement ordering too much food!

For the evening buffet we're catering for 80% of the guests, which is what the hotel recommend. There is always lots of waste at an evening reception, so we don't want to pay for food which will probably be thrown in the bin....unless some of the guys take doggy bags to bed. At my best mate's wedding, she went back to her room to look for her new husband and he was sitting on the bed with a few platters of food from the evening buffet!!!!!

I'm ordering for about 70% of guests, as there are only 30 coming to the evening reception who won't have been to the wedding breakfast - after 3 courses I'm guessing most of them won't want to eat too much in the evening!! lol! x x x

if your having a sitt down wedding breakfast then you only need to cater for about 50% of total eve guests everyone i know says they have had to throw away loads of food from buffets as it doesnt get eaten! we are having sit down meal and then just bacon sarnies in the evening!! yummy lol
