ok guys, so you have all made me very jealous talking about these luxury and extravagant honeymoons you are all having but can anyone recommend a budget honeymoon choice? sadly i have spent/am planning to spend way tooooooo much on the wedding so cant afford the honeymoon of a lifetime we both wanted. im open to do anything as long as there is some romance and things to do. what can you all suggest?

literally i am open to anything, even skegvegas lol. ireland sounds like a good option. we have only ever been to paris for a long weekend and belgium again for a weekend. oh year and blackpool lol.
We had a cottage in Wales in Pembrokeshire with a gorgeous view at Easter. It was very romantic with a box bed and 300 for the week. It was a walk from the beach with a view of the bay and plenty of things to do for day trips in a fabulous part of Wales. You can search romantic cottages online. x

i have thought about asking for money for the honeymoon. only thing is hubby wants to go away for a honeymoon straight away, doesnt like the thought of waiting 6months etc.
CommentAuthoramie23
that sounds like an interesting option lillylou, will look into that. i can just see it now, me, him and his two babies-the dogs on honeymoon lol

Or if you can drive go on a tour of Europe? Ferry and some good research for cheap accommodation and good planning? Have you got any nectar points to spend? My Mil2b and Fil2b went to India and back on nectar points! x

ypu can sometimes pick up last minute cruise deals with thomson for really cheap. what is your do-able budget for your honeymoon? you could stil go away straight after the wedding if you got honeymoon vouchers, just go in to the travel agents the day after with your bags packed, book something very last minute and see what you get? could be really exciting!! xx
CommentAuthoramie23
im normally a freak when it comes to arranging things. has to be organised months in advance etc but i could do that i suppose sophie. realistically i think we could go to £1500 MAX but i would prefer not to lol

We've booked a cottage in Cornwall for a week. It's a lot cheaper to do that as the total cost is about the same or maybe even less than it would have cost us EACH to go abroad.

there are some companies, one of them I know is called 'send us packing' , there a few other ones. you send out details with the invitations then guests log on and pay money towards the honeymoon before the wedding. so you can still go on honeymoon striahgt away x
CommentAuthorlou
well if you dont mind where u go and can go at the last minute then try last minute deals as you can get some really good deals and if you let them know its ur honeymoon i could get an upgrade for free its worth a go hun x

we have asked all our guests to give us money for the honeymoon instead of gifts. we are having a little wooden postbox at the reception for people to post cards and cash. we are going to go to a travel agents n get a last minute deal with the money (and any we need to add ourselves). we went away few years ago for £400 (for both of us!), only booked it a week before we went.x

We are going to turkey for 2 weeks, all inclusive in a 4* hotel for £1300. But thats for us 2 and our 2 daughters. Thought that was an excellent price.

Hi Amie, we also wanted to have proper holidays away after our French wedding so we booked on Lastminute (but few month in advance) for a long weekend in Budapest. It is a realy nice capital so you can travel there with the public transport, there are castle, other places of interest and the Danube river. You can also go for Prague, I've been there too and they are realy similar cities with lot of things to do. You can find package for less than £700 for 2 persons including flights, 7 nuights in 4* hotel and breakfeast for both of these destinations. As you are getting married in summer you should normaly get a realy nice weather there.
CommentAuthorLedZepLover
We are asking our guests for honeymoon money, we own a house and have pretty everything we need and are on a tight budget for the wedding so wouldn't be able to afford a honeymoon. Once the wedding is over then we can book up somewhere depending on how much money people have given us as gifts. Although I will put on the invite that a wedding gift is not necessary, but I know our family will want to give something x x x

thanks everyone, am checking out all your ideas

I'm in the same boat hun. I have found some brilliant hotels near Brighton Marina overlooking the water etc .. you're near all the shops, beach and pubs & clubs for the evening! We are asking for money towards the honeymoon as gifts.
