Hey everyone, I have just found this site & literally just got engaged last wk. Can't wait to be married but the idea of planning the whole wedding is very overwhelming. wanna share the day with close family and friends without spending a fortune. if anyone has any ideas of cheaper smaller venues in the bristol s/west area would be a great help :)

hi, congrats! i am getting married at a place called rookery manor in edingworth just off the A38 just past weston super mare. It is quite pricey but depending on how many ppl you are thinking of inviting it might be ok for you! i know they do a good package for up to 40 guests, the package sounds alot but you get a lot included.

Also my friend is getting married at cadbury house in congresbury, they are really cheap, but it wasnt what we wanted out of a venue but its still lovely! Definately worth booking an appointment to view both of the venue... look them up on the internet and see what you think! Rookery doesnt give you prices though so you will actually have to go down and see the place! trust me, its worth it! the pics on the website do it no justice!!

    xx

congrats on the engagement your best bet is to check out some wedding fairs and venues, even get the list of venues from your council this will give you a good idea of whats available in your area, then you just need to work out what sort you want ie church or civil, hotel/pub reception or family house reception good luck

awh thats a shame kimi, yes when you think you get flowers, centrepieces, disposable cameras etc included. All the little extras add up so will save you worrying about it in the long run :) xx

thanks for the advice mrs vlad. I am going to look into those venues but have a feeling they may still be out of my price range.Might b worth it tho if the whole day is included.

Kimi1987, I'm in longwell green at the mo. Soo much to think about isn't it. Don't wanna spend loads on a wedding cause I'd rather spend on more practical things like moving etc. Might see if some hotels will have cheaper deals for less people or maybe even hiring a bar or hall, but then there's caterers to think about. My brain hurts lol

yeh that is very true but when you think about how cheap you can do all that for somewhere else it makes you realise how much they charge, like it was 3500 for next may, plus would have cost about £7000 for the food, were probs only spending about 3000 on the entire wedding lol

lol Are you serious about Avon Gorge? I had a look at that venue and they wanted £8.800 for 60 people! I told them where to stick it as they were sooo rude as well lol.

I dunno if Fry's club do ceremonies but they are pretty cheap.
