We had a chat today about the wedding and the fact that it is going to cost more then we thought for the venue and the food. We have decided to use the hole £5500 on the wedding and have a honeymoon a year later when we have saved for it. Martyn thinks it is a good idea beacuse we only get to do this once and we want to do it right. We might still be coming in over budget but i am sure we can work something out near the time.

How about ask your guests to contribute to your honeymoon? you may be surprised and find you'll have enough to pay for a trip away after the wedding.. just for a rest lol!!

If you can't afford one and you would love a honeymoon could you not ask for some holiday vouchers, and even if it isn't enough for a honeymoon straight away it could go towards the holiday later! We can't afford a real honeymoon, but are gonna have a wee cottage break down south for a week, about £300, but gets us away (wedding is in dec so no cheap hot destinations) xx

Look on ebay, type in honeymoon poems or cash poems. They are really cheap for bulk, just slip one in every invite! x

We're still not sure what we're doing for our honeymoon yet as wedding is in November its hard to decide. We were going to book Antigua next week but i quite fancy a few days in New York and then a proper honeymoon next summer as we can pick anywhere then! If guests do help towards to honeymoon you can put it towards a short break after the wedding and continue to save for a proper honeymoon

Ireland is very pretty and you could always hop on the ferry if you didn't want to fly. Scotland and Wales are also very nice. On saying that there are some very pretty places in England so you have plenty to choose from. You could always book something after the wedding when you know how much has been donated then send out your thank you cards to tell them where you are going with the money that they gave you.

Ive been to 3 weddings where they have asked for money, 1 was towards holidays and the other 2 wanted for money to do up house, and i know one of my friends got a cannie bit of money. Im sure people purfur to give u something u really want rather than given u something u dont!
