Hi just wanted to know has anybody seen a bouquet made entirely of vintage brooches ? I saw one at a wedding fair and it was like £300 !! didnt think no more of it then came across them whilst surfing , then googled how to make one..and now Ive been scouring charity shops antique fairs and the bay of e for some brooches, Ive started putting one together and im so chuffed its looking fab ! but wot do you all think of them, do you think its a nice change or a bit naff ? Im going for silvertone ,clear diamantes and white enamel flowers, with the odd purple one here and there, will post a pic when it more or less done, but if you google brooch bouquts theres loads to see..xx

I really wanted one of these but everywhere I have looked has come up very expensive. Don't really fancy making my own one, not very steady hands, and wouldn't know where to start, and our wedding has scaled down a lot so will just have a nice country/vintage style bouquet with my nanas locket incorporated into it. I think they are beautiful though with the vintage brooches etc. so go for it, and can't wait to see the pics when you have done yours! x

I am making my own also. I have got some really nice brooches from pry mark for a £1 and thick chunky pearl necklaces for £2. I'm going to use the individual pearls as fillers between the brooches I have and then use any odd earrings etc. My colours are going to be clear diamante with neutral coloured pearls.

Im glad yr al loving it wasnt sure what people would think, but im definately going with it now..lisa I will have a look in pri mrk too and Im using ear rings and some some pearls as fillers too, and hopeful the bottom of my dress thats getting cut off will be enough to make the wrap and collar for the hand part of the bouquet, going to have some dangly pearl necklaces from underneth too if it looks alright..might keep going and do the bridesmaids too only bit smaller...

Debjane - I know that other brides that have had a brooch bouquet have asked family and friends if they have any odd or broken pieces of jewellery.

Have been toying with the idea of having a brooch bouquet as I have quite a few that have been handed to me by family members over the years (never get the opportunity to wear them though) and I would be able to incorporate some lovely pieces from his side too. Was going to go for a leather rose bouquet for me and buttoneer for him, as it would be a nice keepsake but think this would be even more special. Never thought of asking friends for pieces too.

Have had my interest piqued about button bouquets from a thread I saw on here lol (argh! am so challenged on this now lol).

Good idea Lisa , I will be asking friends and family now too, it would be nice for them to be able to point out their pieces and if they wanted they could always have it back after the wedding...x

yeah it is a bit heavy but not uncomfortably so, took me ages I knew I wanted one and made it and remade it three times till it was right...just collected loads of brooches and earrings or anthing pretty ! and wired them with florist wire to make stems like real flowers and taped with florist tape, I used white.., I tried the hand tied effect but couldnt get it right, so tried pulling them through a round oasis...was good but oasis fluffed everywhere..ended up cuttin the stems to a couple of inches and poked them into an oval bouquet holder, any that were a bit wobbly and heavy i just hot glued into the oasis and I done it ! its not huge and over the top and I definately wont be throwing it lol..wil be done for murder if I did xx
