It is the end of wedding season, venues are mental at this time of year and wedding co-ordinators get stuck in meetings and can't do much else. I'm not trying to make excuses but I've worked at hundreds of wedding venues and it's always the same at this time of year. Yes, you're a potential client but you're one of many potential clients AND they have existing clients (the last of this years couples and people that have already booked next year) and possibly they should be looking to secure future bookings but the way it's seen is better to put potentials on hold than to 'ignore' existing clients and lose them (personally I don't agree with that but it's the way ALL these places work)
Is the venue close enough for you to drop in and pick the brochure up yourself?

Thank you, I will call them again but its too far for me to pop in so I will just have to be patient xxx

Out of the 15 venues ive asked for brochures I've received 7 and 2 postcards from the royal mail asking me to go and pay postage!

I'm with you on this one Chezza. I sent emails to about 10 venues with my requirements and requesting details. 2 got back to me with 30 minutes and a further 4 by the end of the day. After 1 week another 2 had replied but 2 never did. I didn't chase them. Whilst I understand that they may be busy it is also their job to deal with potential customers as well as existing ones otherwise no potential client would become an actual client. Bearing in mind the amount of money that a wedding would bring to their venue on the day and from you / your guests using the venue for other events it is reasonable to assume that you are just as important as anyone else. If they aren't going to give me attention as a possible client then what is the guarantee that they would be able to supply the level of service I would expect on the day. The venue that we are going with was very good at communicating with me. That's one of the things that set them apart from other similar venues.
Got married 11/11/11.

Thank you Suzanne, this has made me feel a bit better. The other venues I have looked at have been local so I was able to go in to see them but this venue is 50 miles away to try and accomodate all by being central to both families which is why we were keen on it. The person I spoke to today seemed very nice and genuinely seemed puzzled that we had not received a brochure, so hopefully we will get one soon.
