Do you think people will be miffed if we ask them to bring their own picnic to save money at the arboretum blessing? We were thinking after the blessing we could all go and sit on the grass with nice picnic blankets and do that then have a wander around the gardens, i'm loving this idea, would you guys find it weird to be asked to bring your own? we will supply bottles of wine etc and the blankets.

You could do pot luck? Get everyone to bring one picnic dish but for about 4 people, and then everyone only has to make one thing but get to eat loads xx

I don't think it's weird, it sounds like it's a relaxed blessing in a peaceful setting, bringing a picnic seems perfectly in keeping with the whole thing.

I like the idea of doing a 'bring a dish' thing, but you'd have to coordinate so you don't end up with 2000 scotch eggs..

have a list and people can choose what they want to bring and put that persons name next to the food, that way you get a great variety and not alot of carrots and dips! lol x

The 'Pot Luck' thing is a brill idea..chat to your guests and ask how they feels about it and then if they are all for it find out what people's 'strengths and weaknesses' are re making grub!

We're planning on having a picnic, and i think people will probably be bringing bits and pieces to put towards it.

One thing you could do, is say, people with surnames in the first half of the alphabet bring savoury, and people in the second half bring sweet. xx

picnic sounds like a great idea and also that way people with special dietary requirements can make sure they have something to eat.
