Hi all, I wanted to get my bridesmaids together before 14th jan as one of them (h2b's sis)lives in turkey and is going home then so wanted to get them all together and introduce them. I set a date of fri 11th,for food and few drinks n stuff at my house, plenty of notice so ppl wouldn't plan anything else. My two friends bridesmaids, have said they are fine with that date, but h2b's other sis has said that her and the turkey sis have already made plans to go see les mis at the cinema... And she's now said that its not all about us when we asked if she could slightly change the day she goes to the cinema... There's no other days the others can do cos of work or uni, and just for the sake of going to the cinema when they can go the sat or sun before turkey sis goes home,I just think she's being a little awkward...
H2b thinks we should ask her to step down as bridesmaid, cos anything we've asked her about the wedding so far, she's been quite so/so about it...
Feel a bit upset about this really... As thought she'd be more into it... I know it's a while til the wedding but their other sis doesn't come bk again til next Xmas which is when I wanted to shop for dresses and I wanted them all introduced before then so no awkwardness xx

I might get h2b's mum involved cos she's excited about her daughters being bridesmaid and if she finds out we're thinking of dropping them I'm sure she might sort it for us.... But it's not just that, I want her to be interested, she's also said she wouldn't wear green which is the colour we've chosen for bridesmaid dresses so now having to think of maybe having two colours, like a taupe and green, so 2 of them in each colour.... All this just to satisfy one bridesmaid!

At the end of the day kel I think U need to think what U and h2b want its ur day and I believe anyone should be greatful to be asked to be a bm and if that means wearing a colour not to happy with (although yes would prefer a colour I like id still wear it) x x

I wouldn't change the colour scheme to suit one person! It's your wedding not hers.
But also, I wouldn't drop her as a bridesmaid. It's still a while to go until the wedding and you might regret dropping her. Maybe she isn't very interested because she has something going on in her life that you don't know about? Or maybe just because it's too far away for her to get excited about? I'd leave it a while and see x

We already know why... It's cos we got engaged before her when her and her bf have been together longer...
She said we should be saving for a house first before getting married, and she's just moved into a rented house that her bf rents to save for a house but I know if she got asked tomorrow she wouldn't say ' no darling, we're saving for a house!' Who's she trying to kid?

Perhaps he thinks that as you're getting wed 20 months from now that its too soon to be thinking about BM dress fittings etc, but its not esp when you consider it has to be fit around her being in the country. After all, changing your colours to suit her is already a compromise on your side, and if she's not willing to give a little on her side, then drop her

I'm just trying to be considerate of everyone, I haven't really got a moh so thought I'd let them get to know each other then they can talk ideas about hen dos etc without me having to be there etc.... Plus it'll be less awkward on the hen do too when they know each other and I won't have to stick around with a few set ppl, like my bridesmaid Kate who doesn't really know my other sets of friends who would be invited, so at least there'd already be 3 other ppl she'll know.... I can't believe it's already starting.... That there's already someone not happy and it's still ages away til the actual day!

I wouldn't change your colour cos of one person, it's your day and you should have what you like. Have your night and if they don't want to come as the cinema is more important then so be it. You will have fun anyway x x

Don't change your colour because of a person who isn't showing any interest!! Sod her! I think you need to keep a few things in mind....

Only compromise on things you are happy to compromise on for reasons that matter to you.
It is YOUR day, yours and H2B ... Everyone else is there to share your day, share in your love and future, not dictate terms of attendance involvement.
You shouldn't be stressed at this early a stage... It'll take the shine off the fun of organising the rest of it.

Your day. Your rules. Your happiness. As long as you and h2b are happy, everyone else should be happy. You will naturally make changes to accommodate some people's needs, but not on something as important as the colour scheme. Piffle. I'd ditch her.

I think she wants to go before the 14th before other sis goes home but there is still the sat and sun before she goes home for them to do that.... I would have moved it to the weekend before but now she's said it's not all about us I thought bugger her, if I start changing things round now she's gonna expect it.i even showed a pic of a bridesmaid dress to h2b today and he said not up to me is it it's up to you.... Or my sis lol as a joke... Not funny!!
Not going to her nye party now either I'm sticking my heels in, we're going to my birdies aid Laura's for food and drinks where I know I'll get the support I need and want xx

Glad you're all sorted, but feel the need to shake my fist and say theres no way id cahnge my colour scheme/have another colour incorporated for one person, Id be telling her to wear what she's told, to **** off, or to buy her own dress. Is she the youngest? Id say she has only child syndrome if it wasnt for the others, she seems like a bit of a brat. Ive very low tolerance for people like that, it would be one strike and youre out with me

I aint wearing that? fine, wear what you want and sit with the rest of the guests then

No h2b, her and then another sis who lives in turkey but goes home next wk hence why I wanted to get them together as she won't be bk til next Xmas....
They are already paying for their own dresses, well mil is paying for hers and the turkey sister, but I think if that's the theme it's what they should go with, I know she said when she gets married she wants Tiffany blue for her bridesmaids (she's not engaged yet tho) but I'd love her to get this problem so she knows what I'm going thru x

Lol it's just the easy way of describing the sister who lives abroad rather than writing a full sentence each time... Just to be clear she looks nothing like a turkey and more like Ariel from the little mermaid :-)
