Wedding Forum - Bridesmaids...

I'm having 4 adult bridesmaids ( and 3 flower girls -my daughters) then read that four is a good amount, one that is organised, one as an emotional rock, one that is fun and one that is creative ... And each of these descriptions suit each one of my bridesmaids,it was like fate!
How many bridesmaids are u having? How many is too many?

I'm having 6 & I think they all fall into the category of emotional rock.

When I choose 6 I thought it was a perfect number in terms of pictures, infact any even number is good!

It's your wedding so you have how many you want. I've seen american wedding pictures & they can have 10 or 12! Xx

I'm having 3 little ones!! And, my best mate who I've given the title of Best Woman!!! :-)

I think it is is individual choice completely as to how many and how you pick them.

I am having 3 big bridesmaids and 2 little ones. I didnt want family being bridesmaid as they are important enough on our wedding day and don't necessarily needs a job but i dont have a sister so maybe thats why?! I didnt want too many as overcrowded but my 3 bridesmaids are my best friends so easy choice really. xxx

I had my MOH and 2 BMs

4 adult BMs and probably my OH's 10 year old cousin.

WAY too many for the size of our wedding (52 inc me and H2B); but the 4 adult ones are all my best friends, 3 of them I've known for over 20 years, and we're very close, the other girl I've been friends with for less time (10 years) but would class her as my 'best friend'. It was either have all of them, or none of them.

I wasn't going to have OH's cousin originally, but, I've had a change of heart because I think it would mean a lot to OH and his family, and she's never been a bridesmaid before and I think she'd like dressing up etc, so plan on asking her mum soon :-)

2 adults - best friend and sister, 1 baby - our daughter and 1 flowergirl - our niece

I had our in total, one was my good friend who was my moh, the others were my two daughters and step daughter.

Well there's my best mate from my school days, she is MOH then I another mate of mine and she said no straight up which was fair enough, the reason given was she doesnt get on with my mum lol anyway I then asked my sister inlaw as I was bridesmaid at hers and my brothers wedding. So that made 2 bridesmaids, great!

In a few months ago another brother got married in Oz having only been engaged for about 6 or 7 weeks. I was about to ask my new sister inlaw to be another bridesmaid as I heard they were coming over for my wedding anyway next thing I know my other sister inlaw dumps my brother. Soooo I was down to just 1, my MOH! I then let the dust settle for a few weeks and then I asked my new sister inlaw and she says yes. So yippee back up to 2 bridesmaids.

Fiancé turns to me one day and says he's worried none of his family will show up at the wedding, so I'm now thinking of asking either a sister of his or his niece to be another bm as hopefully that would guarantee at least a few family on his side coming. So with all this coming and going I have no idea how many bridesmaids I'm going to have on the day lol

Oh and we heard that his best man told their boss (they work together) that he was going to try and "end it all" yesterday so their boss drove the best man up to the hospital and brought him in. The docs examined him and sent him home either last night or this morning and everyone was worried sick about him including us but it turns out it was all a big fat lie to get out of work for the next couple of weeks and play his Xbox my Fiancé is very pissed off at him because he could hardly sleep last night as we were convinced he had been sectioned. So anyway he says he's seriously thinking of asking someone else to be best man. Oh I dunno men eh!

Well that's not all, my fiance's brother he lives with us. He fell out with their father over three years ago. He can't be bestman because if he comes to the ceremony (here in england) their dad won't and vice-versa. And so he can only be an usher at the reception because the reception is 1 week later (back in Ireland). Trouble is there's no point asking him to dos speech cos no one will bloody hear him. He whispers all the time.

My fiance's childhood friends are all drug taking scummers (and that's his own words) so he's not inviting any of them. Though I suggested he could ask a couple of work colleagues to come or be best men or whatever. So I think he is mulling it over. Basically we've got to the point where we just don't care lol.

Oh the bridesmaid thing is the least of my problems. I'm more worried about not having a best man now as I know my MOH will turn up no matter what.

I was going to do the no kids thing but my mother quickly quashed that 1 by telling my niece she was going to be a flower girl, long story and there's a massive rant on here somewhere about it all, but anyway my brother who got married in Oz is taking his step kids home to meet the family and I'm now 6 months pregnant so the no kids thing isn't worth fighting over. But I do have a stipulation on it, as the only kids allowed are immediate family's kids only. The only screaming baby there will likely be my own thats if my Oz sister inlaw doesn't get pregnant in between so anyway yeah that's that.

I read someone's having 12 adult bridesmaids... I think that could be a bit much.. I'd have to be brutal with a few if I had that many choices lol x

my mum had all children (from 3-15) and i think there was 12 of them?!? i cant remember now tbh. theres pictures of them all though its quite funny.

No one needs 10 or 12 bridesmaids no matter how many of them are given jobs to do. Way too many and it just looks odd in the pictures. 4 maximum I think is enough, and yeah having extra bridesmaids just for the sake of it is a bit silly. I know girls who have asked friends they aren't even that close to just because they wanted more bridesmaids than the last bride had. I think getting three or four dresses sorted is enough without having to sort out any more than that.

I'm only having 1 bridesmaid which is my H2B's half sister, I'm not using my sister because to be fair and this isn't me being all high and mighty but she doesn't deserve to be my bridesmaid due to the fact that her alcoholic boyfriend has threatened both me and H2B and she has just wasted her life away with him but he's not invited anyway but she is.

I'm not using H2B's other sister because yes we get on but we're not like best buddies, so I'm using his half sister, yes she is young (17) but we do get on (I'm 26 lol) and I get on really well with her mum (H2B'S stepmom who is helping me choose my dress becuase she will be honest with me).

And this is the sympathetic bit, but I don't have any girl friends all my friends are HTB's friends which are all male lol!!!!

I think I am going to have 2 adult bridesmaids (my best friends) and 4 junior bridesmaids (h2b's cousins, 12, 10, 9 & 9) xx

I haven't any little boys to have :-( quite sad about it, none in the families whatsoever, h2b's sisters don't have kids yet and he hasn't any either xx

I have four, my best friend, my sister and h2b's 2 sisters. I originally had six but cut 2 because we couldn't afford them. x

Im having my 2 best friends (1 of 20 years and 1 of 15 years) as my BM. Not having an MOH as couldnt choose between them. Also having my 2 neices who will be 2 as flower girls. I love them both to bits and theyre just toooooo cute :-)

i'm having my sister, my step daughter, my niece on his side. and my two little nieces as flower girls. Was having my sister inlaw but she went and got herself pregnant and is due 7 days before my wedding!!!!
