I have 3 bridesmaids, working on 200 each max for a dress that's 600 pound. Is it acceptable to ask for 40/50 each towards the dress? Don't want them thinking I'm being stingy in asking them to pay some towards it :(
Has anyone asked there bridesmaids? Xxxx

Have you thought about hiring bm dresses? That's what I have done, cost 90 quid each and they are really gorgeous dresses
Xx
Cant wait to be married
must loose weight!!
start weight 12st 12lb
current weight 9st 10lbs
Both my MoH and BM's dresses were under £50, which I paid for (and they kept) as I got MoH's from China and the other one from the bay. I asked them to pay for their own shoes, and they had no objections at all.
Vegas baby!

I've paid £160 for each of my bridesmaid dresses and got them their jewellery as a present. I wanted to ask them for a bit of financial help but decided not to as felt awkward ;( Instead they've paid for their own shoes and they'll be paying for any alterations that might be needed to their dresses xx

I think it's perfectly acceptable - I'm being a BM in June and we haven't been asked to pay for anything and we feel so awful about it and keep offering but the bride keeps saying no!! So we're going to get her a spa day before the wedding as an extra present. But I definitely would be more than happy to contribute so you shouldn't feel bad about asking :)

My sister goes into a sulk every time i pay for something for her for the wedding-She keeps saying that she should be paying! I wouldn't mind but her total outfit so far has come to £55 as we got her dress and shrug from deb hams at 75% off and she has her shoes already. I think your bms will be more than happy to contribute. xxx

Thats the thing, i think i should be buying everything for them for i still dont feel comfortable buying them off the internet... gonna have a look in the high street to see what i can find. Then take it from there whether i ask them to contribute towards it if its over 150 each i think xxxx

I will be asking my BM's to go halves on their dresses as they can keep them afterwards - as someone pointed out if they were just normal guests they would buy a whole new outfit anyway, so paying out a bit for a BM outfit seems fair.. I'm sure they won't mind if you ask them x

My bridesmaids are having to help with their dresses as we are on such a tight budget and luckily they have said they will match what we put in. Now all i have to do is find the dresses. x

I think £200 per dress is alot so why dont you try and spend less and that way they wont have to pay in for it?!
I dont agree with asking bridesmaid to contribute/pay for their dresses anyway !

We have decided to go on the 26th may as thats when my sister is down next (she lives in wales at the moment before going australia) so i can get all of them together, to have a look around & talk to them. But ive looked on line at the store beginning with D & theres a dress on there which is still £145 short or £180 long!

Like somebody else has said my bridesmaids feel a little uncomfortable that we are paying for dresses and accessories (not shoes, that's just too much of a headache) so if you need them to contribute, just talk to them about what they could put towards everything and maybe adjust your budget in line with that.
