Help everyone wants and expects to be my bridesmaid - how do i say no with out upsetting everyone - any advice???

hi and welcome, i had this, but at the end of the day, i had to choose who i wanted to be my bridesmaid forget if it upsets people, choose the ones who you can always count on, who always stand by you no matter what, i hope this helps

Think about who you realy love and trust to be bridesmaids, ive heard a lot of people complaining on here including myself about how useless they can actualy be once they have been chosen, they can get realy jelous and turn into people you dont even know, while im on the rant haha ive had a few problems with bm dresses being made ontime so my advice to anyone would be to tell the bm store your date is actualy a month before it is xxx

You choose who you want as bridesmaid/s its completely up to you! Dont let anyone force you into making you choose them hun. Your day you got to have it how you want it xx

You want to pick people close to you and who you can trust. You don't need any extra stress on your day. If they are true friends they will understand that you can't afford to have everyone. Explain that you love them dearly but don't have the budget or time for them to all walk down the aisle. If anyone has a problem with that then they wouldn't be up for the role in the first place.

make sure you think about it and try not to get over-excited and rush into asking people.....my friend had regrets over who she'd asked! I was going to just 2 friends and 3 of my cousins, but after thinking about it I know I'll regret not having 2 other friends, so I'm probably going to ask all of them but get their dresses cheaper and ask them to buy their own shoes! Still haven't asked them yet, as I wanna make sure I'm 100% happy! But I'm def n ot asking people just coz they expect it! Tho I have got other friends I want involved So I'm gonna ask them to help out with other parts of the wedding! x

i have that same issue. like who do you pick, my h2b sister has me as a bm, and i guess i'll be expected to repay the favour, plus have sil2b as well, though i wasn't invited to their wedding!

The people I've chosen, I chose because I want them. People should never assume that they'll be one. You could choose yours then think of something to say to the others? I don't know honey :( xx

I know everyone says choose who you want, and while that is great advice, it is so hard! I have groups of friends who i feel like 'If I ask one I have to ask this other one, and then this one will be offended blah blah blah' - so I sympathise with u! But I'd say pick the people who are closest to you - and who you want to share your special day, and if the others are friends they will understand your decision! good luck honey x

I know how you feel, when i told my sister we had set a date the first thing she said to me was i'm bridesmaid then. And i turn round to he and said no your not. I have 2 daughter and they are all that i'm having. She thought she would automaticly be as i was bridesmaid for my brother. I think that if you have children you really don't need anyone else.
Just having my 2 daughters. No problems. Just say you can only afford 2/3/4 and dont budge on it x

I'm getting all my potential bridesmaids together for a drinkypoos and I'm going to lay it on the line that I am having 5 flowergirls, and as much as I'd like them all to be bridesmaids, I want them to think seriously about whether they actually want to be bridesmaids or if their skills would be better placed doing another job. Failing that I will be holding x-factor auditions and enjoy lapping up all the attention.

im just having my sister as a bridesmaid,my closest friend who potentially would have been a BM if i was having more than one is doing a reading at the service, as she was on holiday with me when i met h2b. The other pot BM is now chief hen night planner with my sis x x x x easy!

I'm in the same boat, I just wanted my daughter as BM and son as a page boy, but H2B's niece assumed she was BM before we even said we were getting married!! Now I have a stroppy over weight 10 year old to find a dress for, and it's stressing me out BIG time! I'm really starting to resent her which isn't like me as I have worked in a school for 10 years! I love kids ... but this one can rub me up with one look! x

i said from the start that if h2bs parents wanted their kids in the wedding then they would have to pay for their outfits as we are on a tight budget. so instead of having 6 bridesmaids ive only got 2. result! xx

i'm having my best friend( chief bm) and my cousin as bridesmaid, then my best friends 2 girls (my goddaughters) as flower girls. was gonna have my cousin as chief bm but think she will be nice just because we are related so i know my friend will tell the truth.

best mate is Chief BM, sil2b is MoH (as she's 40 married with kids), Rich's niece as BM and my other best friends little one as flower girl - my mum has asked for my 2 cousins to be bms as well and on top of the money her and dad give us she'll pay for their gear. so thats 6 - I know my dads side of the family want their grand kids to be bridesmaids but they're not even invited to the wedding as i dont want that many kids (6 in total) i dont think i could cope with it lol

ive only been engaged 2 weeks and the weddin not till 2013 and already got my nieces moaning about not being a bridesmaid. but i have 2 stepdaughters that im havin, my best friend who has seen me through everything since school and my sister as maid of honour. my sister made a comment about my nieces so i told her if she buys the dresses and shoes then they can be! x
