I think I got my bridesmaids dresses a few days after my 1 year countdown (I'm VERY prepared lol) Mine were £180 each from a bridal store but tbh I didn't shop around, I just got one I loved there and then and was gone within the hour haha.

Go shopping whenever you like! :D As long as you have about 6 months before your wedding you'll have plenty of time (from a bridal store anyway) If you go for high street, have a look and see if theres anything summery in the sales! Otherwise I would maybe say spring will be when the next batch of dresses come out x

We went shopping a year before. I went with my mum first so that we could scope out the shops in the area and what they offered, and what their prices were like, before we brought the bridesmaids with us, then a couple weeks later the girls came to the shop we liked best and picked from there.

The reason we did it so far in advance was that we were told it could take 12 weeks for the dresses to come in, and then a month or so for alterations. One of my BMs left the UK early March, and wasn't returning until 5 days before the wedding, and so hers need to be done in plenty of time (ie alterations completed by Feb), and we thought it would be best if the others got theirs then too.

With 10 months to go, I'd suggest you start looking now yourself, and get an idea of prices etc as you said; maybe try to narrow it down to one or two shops, and get an idea of the style you'd like. Then I'd take your bridesmaids with you in a couple months time; that way you've got plenty of time to find and order something, and plenty of time for alterations. I'd leave the FG dresses until closer to the time though as children grow quickly and might well outgrow them if you buy them too early.
