So, my BMs are all coming together on the 12th and we're going to spend a day dress shopping for them to see what dress suits all their shapes. Anyway... the advice I am looking for is nothing to do with the dresses themselves and everything to do with ensuring we have a great and comfortable time. So far the only advice I have been told (and this was by one boutique owner I booked an appointment with) was to bring bottles of cold water.

What other advice would you my fellow Brides suggest?

I wouldn't do carb loaded snacks as it will bloat them all and then they wouldn't feel good in any of the dresses! My advice would be to let them try on dresses that they like even if you don't like it on the hanger, they will know what styles and cut suit their shape best xxx

Thought that was a bit weird regarding carbs. Took it out of the question so it doesn't come up again.

I have my nieces as bridesmaids and my best friend as MOH. Completely difference of opinion about what they should all wear, and I had great recipe for disaster, Luckily I took my mum along too. My advice would be to take someone else with you who is not a bridesmaid and will therefore give you a totally unbiased opinion. Also, a good breakfast in you, and some slow release energy snacks and water to keep you going (Nuts, Fruit, Health bar) because nothing makes you more angry and snappy then a hungry tummy! :-)

Good Luck with it, and remember to have fun xx

Thanks MillieT for the advice, my MIL2b is coming as well to help. The second part of your advice is what I was really looking for as well regarding food. I get grumpy if I don't eat for too long and the last thing I want is BM's getting hot, sweaty and narky. I'm thinking about asking them to wear light, easy to remove loose clothing as well... would this be a good idea?

When I've been a bridesmaid on both occasions we met up and started in a coffee shop. A nice relaxed way to start, and it gives you a change to plan where you're going, as well as meaning you can probably go a fair while before lunch. I found that putting lunch as late as possible worked, as we were able to sit down and discuss options.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

So far the day is set out that we will all be meeting at my house for breakfast and also so BMs can meet eachother properly (we have a group on FB where they chat all the time and recently discovered they created their own to talk about BM stuff. MOH lives in Portsmouth, BM1 lives here in Dundee and BM2 lives in Aberdeen (SIL2b) we'll go through two boutiques, then lunch at a cafe BM1's OH manages and then do another two then we're all going to have dinner later on with OH's, MIL and maybe FIL is he is coming down from Aberdeen as well.

Going to pop to stores a few days before and stock up on bottled water and some snacks for them to keep them on the go.

Sounds good! I had it so they came to see me in my dress, they met each other for the first time, gave them a 'will you be my brdiesmaid' card, then had a dress picked and paid for within the hour! Haha. Was very exciting but wish it lasted a little longer. As they'd only just met each other and just asked them, it took a bit of pushing and motivation for them to pick anything they liked themselves as they both just wanted something I liked and chose (rare, right?!) x

Wow, that's a lucky shot! The last place we're going to is actually where my dress is and going to reveal it to BMs and MIL. The ladies have all been chatting together online discussing their body types and they have an idea of what shape dress their liking the idea of, two of them are very big chested ladies and since I am having a bouncy castle at the wedding... strapless isn't a likely option :-O

Oh thats such a good idea! They will be so excited for the final reveal ha! I liked the idea of a floaty strapless or one shouldered dress and when i found one I liked for them to try I completely changed my mind, so you never know! Halterneck might be a good option is there are any in that case! x

I'm pretty open to whatever suits all three as long as they're comfortable and look awesome. I have seen one dress on Etsy that looks really nice which lace straps. I agree, you never necessarily end up with what you expect. My original plan was for an all red wedding dress but I found just out of dumb luck a dress with a red corset and ivory skirt which I fell in love with when I tried it on. Going to be adding a red tulle underskirt as well to give flashes of the colour when I walk. :-)
