oh my word, i have chosen two adult bridesmaids - 1 being my oldest friend who lives 280 miles away so not as close as used to be and the other is my H2B best friend wife who i have formed a close friendship with and see regularly.

Well my oldest friend seems to keep want to try and out do my new friend - seeming to keep trying to pull rank on who has known me the longest etc etc

Now she is offended that my new friend is matron of honour (only asked her to be MoH as she is married and my other friend is not) i can imagine this is just going to escalate as time goes on

    Any advice?

I think I wouldn't have asked either of them to be moh, and would have just given them both little tasks to do, like the one living closer to arrange the hen do as u can be in collaboration and the one living further away to maybe go out for the day and help u pick the bridesmaid dresses .... Tbh tho I have four adult bridesmaids and the one who is my moh is the one I've known the longest as she's known me all that time and we've always been friends, when I actually see more of my other bridesmaid that's a friend x

yes i guess i should have just said for them to be both bridesmaids then would have saved the problem, my oldest friend and i seemed to have drifted apart somewhat over the past 8 years and have a lot more in common with my newer friend.

But i like the idea of giving them little tasks to do

I dunno seeming as there trying to outdo eacv other atleast giving one the moh title means shes incharge? If you know what i mean, and maybe explain to you other friend that moh is more than just a title it has lits if responsibilities that you cannot expect her to organise etc living so far away!

ahhh there's a thought. Thank you Lana.

It's such a shame, but hopefully things will calm down as they get to know each other

oh dear what a shame. maybe like you said it will calm down as they get talking and spend time together. its a compliment to you that they want to both be most important to you.

Maybe talk to them both about it and explain that you love them both equally and want them to get along etc.. xx

That's a little OTT. There's still time before the wedding I would be tempted to ignore the comments and see if it just blows over.

I'm sorry but the scene from the film 'Bridesmaids' just sprung to mind where the old friend and new friend are constantly trying to up stage eachother!

Both of them should be treated equally as just because you dont see your old friend as much doesnt mean she is any less of a friend. Try to include her as much as you can she is probably worried that your new friend is trying to replace her and when friendship is threatened it can make women do crazy things!
