Hey girls. Hope everyone is well. Me and my fiance get married in 11 weeks and my partners Mum threw me a mini hen party as they can't make my real one in 3 weeks. Well his sister came down on Saturday with a new outfit and was showing everyone she then went on to tell everyone this was her outfit she is changing into for the evening party out of her bridesmaid dress. Is this normal and is anyone elses bridesmaids doing this. Any advice would be greatly received. Thankyou :) x

To be honest I don't know if there's a right or a wrong. I personally don't care if the BM's want to get changed - as long as they are in their BM dresses for the ceremony and some photo's. But at the end of the day it's your wedding - if it bothers you have a quiet word that you'd prefer her to keep the BM dress on xx

I'm with Fran; I don't know what the 'rules' are on this. I'm OK with mine getting changed as they're wearing floor-length strapless dresses, and may want to wear something shorter in the evening; though part of me would be a bit ticked-off as they chose the dresses and they cost a fortune (£250 each with alterations!). I think they plan on keeping them on though.

    Wow Barbie; expensive dresses!

Yeah I don't think there are any rules; I'm ok with my bridesmaids changing their dresses for the evening if they want to but I'd prefer them to keep them on. I always thought it was the bride who changed in the evening and everyone else stayed as they were :S

I'm staying in my dress all day! lol. want to make the most of it. I think i'm more annoyed with her that she didn't come to us and ask if we minded her changing her clothes, my other 2 bridesmaids plan on staying in their dresses all day and not changing. Were having our dresses made by a family member and it just feels like she'll spend a lot of time and effort making these dresses for one of them to only spend a brief amount of time in the dress.

I would not be happy about my bms changing out of there dresses. It shows other guests whos in the wedding party whosy be sblevto help/advise them with anything. Aswell as the fact that most people have pay for thos dresses which are worn one day they better be worn the whole day!

I think if they have paid for the dresses themselves then fair enough but as I am paying for my bridesmaids dresses I would hope they would wear them in the evening too. Unless the little one spills something on hers lol. If it bothers you I think you would be entitled to say so

I'll kick off if my Bms think they can change in the evening lol
But we are only having an evening reception so they won't have their dresses on long anyway
If they even ask to do that I'll just be straight and tell them no and why and if they don't like it they can get lost lol xx
