Is it traditional to buy your bridesmaids a gift?

I'm totally swithering about whether or not I should do this - I'm not even sure if it's something that we have to do?

    What has everyone else done?

I did - they had their dresses and jewellery, then I got them each a little personal something that I gave them the night before when we were all together - saved one of them waving nautical-themed underwear around at the wedding breakfast!

Well I'm buying their dresses for them and I was going to get them all a necklace to wear on the day as well but I wasn't sure if the necklace counted as the gift or as part of their uniform?

I thought about getting them earrings as a gift, given on the morning of the wedding so they could wear them. I think that's still seen as a gift x

I want to get them all a necklace to wear on the day too, but I won't be giving it to them until the morning of the wedding so it will be a gift for them all, plus I am buying their dresses and I have chosen them dresses that they could wear for parties in the future.

yeah, I've also picked them dresses that they can wear again. I'll maybe just give them their necklace on the day then? They've all been asked to sort out their own shoes and things.

    or big day even :)

My MOH is my lil sis so will have helped anyway even if she wasnt asked but still nice to say thanks and other BM's are h2b's young sisters and my younger cousins so will be nice for them to have a gift as a momento too as they may not remember all of it when they grow up

My MOH is my best friend and I found a gorgeous laminated poem on Ebay that summed up how I felt about her and I knew it would make her cry so I thought I'd adapt it to my wording, laminate it myself and give that to her. With my two youngest bridesmaids (10/11) I'm buying them a photo book of their day as a bridesmaid so they can put all their pics in for memories. As for my other bridesmaid which is my 22 year old sister I have no clue what I'm getting her yet! x

I paid for dress and necklace and will make the necklace a gift for the start of the day. Sake with all ushers and best man brought them peraonalised socks that they will recive before then only handing out the mothers gifts as part of the speeches.

I got their dresses and two pendants for the bridesmaids & MOH and I also got a headband and bracelet for my MOH. You don't have to get them gifts, but generally they do get thank you gifts xx

That's what I thought Kaili! Especially as it goes so fast the little ones will always have their own special memories to treasure for years to come, and my best friend is an emotional wreck when it comes to me telling her how proud I am to have her as a friend etc so I know it will mean the world to her to have something like that. It's just the sister left, don't really want to get her jewellery but have no clue on what to get her! x

I was a BM when I was 7 and kept my hoop (carried a hoop with some autum dried flowers on) and was given a little BM teddy bear as a thank-you. When we talk about the wedding I can remember bits but not the whole thing and cant remember some bits even when i see pics but to have a photo book that they can look through soon after the day then they can associate memories to the pics which is lovely. Might just have to put that idea to h2b see what he thinks. Thats what people are getting for xmas from us as we just had a baby and dont have much money for xmas pressies.

Some people are just difficult to buy for they either have lots already or have very specific tastes but im sure you will find something xx
