    Hiya.
I'm having 5 bridesmaids (yes 5!) and they are all such varying shapes and sizes I know this is going to be a potential nightmare! They're currently a size 8, 14, 16 and 2x 20 but the wedding is 18 months away and 2 of those have just had babies so are planning on losing weight so who knows what size they will be! We're on a budget so my plan was going to be - give them £300 and the colour, and let them decide themselves. I don't mind what shoes/accessories/how they wear their hair etc as long as they're in the same dress. £60 per dress might not be enough but I know if they went on certain websites such as the bay of e then they could find some. So if i give them a budget and say if it comes to more than that then you'll have to contribute yourselves...is that ok?
I know some bridesmaids pay for their own dresses completely but I want to avoid that if I can.
    What are people's thoughts?
Also if anyone can recommend a cheap bridesmaids dress supplier in the west yorks area I'd be forever grateful!
    xx

I think that sounds fair. You could easily work with £60 a dress and you can get great dresses from the high street and eBay. Have you had a look at the twist and wrap dresses from b h s? They're gorgeous and suit all shapes and sizes because you can wear them in so many different ways.

The greatest thing you'll ever learn
is just to love and be loved in return

It depends.... with such a range of sizes, it might be better to ask them to stick to a theme or tone of colour as oppsed to the same dresses. I took my (4) bridesmaids dress shopping and well, with one a tiny (short/petite) size 6, another a normal 8, another a 16 and another a tall 14, the same dress is never going to work without serious adjustments. You're better off taking them shopping and letting them know your budget and should they wish to have a more expensive dress, they'll have to pay more if it goes over the £300 combined budget. I think they'll understand this. Maxi dresses are normally quite good but not if they're short and empire lines can be very unflattering on larger ladies as it just makes them look pregnant. The best thing is to just get them all to try on loads of styles! :)

    Hi Amy

I got my BM dresses from China and they are amazing, They cost like £60 but it would have cost £180 per dress for the design I got. I let my BM's pick what design they wanted and whether they wanted full length / knee length etc. I then picked 3 colours with the H2B and allowed them to choose the final colour of the dress which in fact is the colour scheme. I was nervous about getting them from China as I wasnt sure on quality, material, colour or sizes (you measure you BM's and submit the sizes and they make the dress to your requirements) but I had nothing to worry about. I will pop some links on your wall xx

I probably wouldn't let them buy any dress or accessory until you've seen them. It's a great idea that you'll let them buy their own dresses but you may want to make sure that the colour tones match and the accessories aren't too different. Probably give them more specific information, a colour tone, styles in mind, themes and what types of accessories. Or better still, take them shopping with you.

I have 6 BM's and are a variety of sizes going from 8 - 20. I bought my BM's dresses as was able to get them fairly cheap. I paid £470 for all dresses plus delivery from the 5exy.Her website. We went to the showroom they have so I gave the girls the colour and said that I was keen on one shoulder maxi dresses which they all liked too. Think it worked out as around 70/75 a dress 3 of which were made to measure. As I am going for maxi dresses I have said they can wear whatever shows they like. Their accessories (jewellery) are the girls thank you presents and I have asked their opinion on having a side bun with their dress all the girls have said they like this idea too. My hairdresser is charging me £20 a person to style their hair in a side bun.

I have tried my best to include them as much as poss and have asked their opinions along the way.

My three are all very different, I like the idea of the twist and wrap dress as they get to choose howithey wear it but they will all be in the same fabric. We are getting a hire dress for 28 days so we can play around and make a final decision. They work out at 80a dress but 50if you want knee length. Might be an idea?

I have only two bridesmaids, one a size 16-18, one a size 10-12 but even with the different in size they are also completely different shapes.. one top heavy, one bottom heavy (but both equally stunning!!)
I am struggling enough to find a style of dress t o suit them both, so I have made them a deal.
They have a budget of £150 each which is for dress, shoes, accessories and anything above that they have to fund themselves.
They can chose to wear the same dress but chose their own shoes and accessories
    OR
They pick a different dress but the same colour, but have to have matching shoes and accessories.

Going shopping with them in a few weeks so hope they find something then!!

I had exactly the same problem. Keep looking around the high street. Dont buy anything without them but leave it as late as possible. My BM dresses were £65 each. They are maxi dresses with diamantes and a stretchy back. That meant that they all got one to fit and are very flattering. I would try to go with full length because the larger girls feel more comfortable.

Good luck hun, as you have 18 months you have plenty of time x
