I live up in Scotland but my bridesmaids live in England, one in Stoke on Trent and one in Stockport. I've got a date planned for this month for us all to meet up and to look at bridesmaid dresses, but am not really sure where to start. I'm looking to spend under £150 and don't know whether I would be better looking at High Street such as Debenhams and BHS, or at bridal shops. There is a big height difference between my bridesmaids (one is 5 foot 2 and busty, the other 5 foot 9) so it may be hard to get off the peg unless we get alterations. I'd be grateful for any advice on where to look.

What colour are you looking for? High street might be your best bet wit your budget x x

I'd say the high street is probably the best place to go for the sort of price you're looking at xxx

Yeah I would say places like coast, monsoon, debenhams & BHS, even H&M, are probably your best bet. Bridal shops can be really expensive! x

i got all mine form debenhams and at fab prices...i have had to go for different styles so I have the 2 lil girls in 1 style, 2 others in another style and marton of honour different again...but the 2 lil ones are ivory and 3 big ones are all black.. I could not find a style that suited all 3 big ones as 2 are 5'2 and size eights the other is 5'7 and a 16. The 3 big bridesmaids have the same wraps, flowers, shoes and fascinators so hoping it will be ok.
Thanks, that confirmed what I thought. Will check out the High Street options and see how I get on!

For the stockport lass there's always the trafford centre she could visit? Got lots of shops there.
A useful trick I've found when trying to match dresses with handbags, shoes etc. is to use colour cards produced by a very popular paint company that advertises with a big shaggy dog - distribute them to your girls and tell them to look for dresses of that colour! The stores in big shopping centres might have a better selection of dresses and colours than regular high street shops, so send them armed with your colour info, see what they find? :-)
you could also try cheshire oaks which is a designer outlet store - there is a popular 'seaside' dress shop there, but be warned - if yo buy from their outlet, you can only return to an outlet store, not a regular high-street version of this shop
