    Help needed!

My Wedding is in three months and one of my bridesmaid dresses doesn't fit. She is trying her best to shed the pounds but the dress is far too small. Hoping our friend who alters dresses etc can put another panel in it.

My dresses are Co@st ALLURE maxi dress in thyme and I need a size 18. They still sell them in the shop but are £180! Ive searched the bay and ploved but can't find a size 18. Tried the Outlet shops too.

    Any ideas?

Have you tried to exchange it for a larger size? It might be worth a try even if you no longer have a receipt if the tags are still on and it's still in shops.
I would recommend creating a favorite search on the Bay and set it up to email you every time the dress is listed.

I hope you're able to find a solution.

Yes or I know its naughty but maybe brake the zip or undo some stitching that way they have to exchange I've done it once or twice it's a lot of money to loose and fork out more on xx

I have to ask why buy the dress if it was too small in the first place ...

The idea of breaking the zip or undoing stitching deliberately is really wrong ( and can be spotted ! ) ..... When did you buy the dress.. If you have the receipt just take it back and swap sizes

Have to agree with lala, breaking the dress intentionally is wrong, surely if you explain to the shop they could help you, if it is just an exchange you're after then they are usually quite accommodating. Hope you manage to sort your situation

If it doesn't fit what else is she meant to do? And yes I do agree it's frustrating when someone says a size fits and it's too small coast is a small size I have to have a 12 where as other places I am a 10 x

I personally would carefully undo a bit of the stitching if all else fails it's not wrong x

When we bought it, it fitted!
We tried them on again at the weekend becuase they are going to the dress makers to be fitted in the next few weeks- I dont think any of us including my sister realised she had put on weight.

I bought the dress at a Coast Outlet so was reduced anyway- i have tried to take it back but they dont have her size and can't guarantee they will get it in. Im not sure if i can exchange a dress at the actual shop if i bought it from an outlet?

you should be able to exchange at another store. you can always say that you brought it from there but lost the receipt. most places do exchanges without receipts x

I know its sneaky but could you not buy the dress and carefully take tags off make sure it doesnt get damaged then take it back after the wedding, i have done it before when had somehwhere to go but couldnt really afford a new outfit, or sneaky again if it doesnt have any security tags on take the old dress to the shop and swap it with a size that fits in the changing rooms. lol x

most stores no longer except exchanges without receipts but if you explain the situation they might be able to help you. the other alternative is speak to customer services they can be really accommodating if you call them and explain they can usually move a dress to another store for you.

I fully agree with Lala on this one. Some of the things suggested here are just wrong. Don't do them Caroline!

If they don't have her current size, could you get the next size up and get it altered to fit?

You may have to bite the bullet and pay but then sell it on the bay afterwards. Maybe it would be fair to ask your bridesmaid to pay, or al least contribute. although you need to be sensitive.

I'm very surprised that people on here are suggesting underhand methods. I do hope that the people who would consider that are very definitely in the minority.

How much does she need to lose for it to fit?
She could easily lose 1 stone+ in 3 months, could you possibly take up an activity with her ie swimming or walking, just to help her out that bit more?

We have tried the spans and she is on a diet but I just don't want to get to a month before the wedding and have a dress that doesn't fit!
We bought the 16 and it fitted fine but doesn't anymore! It's currently at the dress makers to see if we can have a panel put in. She's my little sister and I feel so sorry for her! I've always struggled with my weigh to! May just have to buy the next size

Thanks for the help and support ladies!

Did you have any luck with the dress maker? I just had a thought, that if you paid by card, what does your bank statement say? Because if it just states the name of the store and not that it was at the outlet, you would have no problem exchanging it in the store? Bank statement is a legal proof of purchase xx

Please don't ruin the dress liberately - that's a horrible thing to do and I can't believe some of you have suggested those ideas!

I hope you have luck with the dress maker but if push comes to shove, I suppose you could sell the 16, buy an 18 and then get it taken in instead.
