I went out dress hunting for the first time with my bm yesterday and found a gorgeous bridesmaid/prom dress in Debenhams. The problem is, I was planning on a royal blue theme - but the dress is midnight blue but plain (see pic on my profile). Would a sash around the waist look okay on this dress or would it just spoil it??? I was thinking of a royal blue one to blend with the colour scheme but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen royal blue/white flowers that I was thinking of getting, and my dress (when I find it) could be all white or white with royal blue edging/train.

Which dress is it hun? if its the first one then i dont think a sash would be necersarry. its got lots of gorjus beading and rouching so it doesnt need it.
The second on not sure tbh. if its that one then have a play with it. just pin the sash round and have a look xxx

do you mean put a differet colour blue sash around the blue dress? that might look a little weird to be honest. but you can have different shades of blue for different things ie dresses and flowers as long as they blend together

I love the dress - and al blues look good together - you could put a sash around it but i think it would spoil the dress :-) x

Thanks everyone. Tbh my bm is a size 20 and this dress (the dark blue, plain one) really flatters her. I don't want to put her in anything that she's uncomfortable with or looks tight/not right. I haven't got my dress yet but I was thinking of a white one so that we'd look ok together. If I get one with a coloured edging or train I suppose I could go for a darker colour....???
