I wondered if you could help ladies,

I'm just getting general ideas for BM dresses as I have 5, so need to be organised!

Do you think if I went for a different material bm dress to my dress it would look silly?

It's just I've seen some lovely chiffon bm dresses & thought as its a summer wedding that would look great on the day, BUT my dress is taffeta & I'm not sure if the different materials would look odd together. If it was satin & taffeta I could work this in my head, but chiffon seems a world away from my dress.

Any ideas would be appreciated, also if you think I'm being too OCD about the whole issue, feel free to say, ha :) xx

No I think they would look perfectly fine. My dress is silk dupion and the bridesmaids are duchess satin. I think if THEY were all in different fabrics it might look odd, but if they are all the same, yet different to yours, that would look fine..

Chiffon seems to be the fabric that a lot of brides choose for their bridesmaids, as it has a lovely flowing look to it, and its a very forgiving fabric too, it suits most shapes and sizes. So a size 6 and a size 26 can look equally as good in chiffon because its so versatile. And in the summer, chiffon is perfect because it weighs next to nothing, so its easy to wear, and it looks summery too.
    Go for it.

I totally agree, my dress is lace and my BMs are in chiffon. Theres a lot of choice in chiffon, particularly at the moment with all of the summer dresses around
I think its quite normal for the two to be in different fabrics.

There are so many people out there who will tell you
    what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

I think it would be fine, so long as the BMs dresses are the same as each other, it doesn't matter. They can all be different colours, I think that looks fab, but different fabrics will make them look more like guests!

It worked for my auntie :) my bridesmaids dress had a silk bust and a net skirt whereas her wedding dress had some lace and beading.

Maybe compare the materials and colours together to see if they work.

I think chiffon dresses work with anything. My dress is tulle but the BM dresses are chiffon. See if you can google some images of brides with BMs and see if you like the way they look together, cx.

As long as they are all the same fabric then it will look fine honey,... you want them to contrast against you slightly too so you stand out xx

    Thanks ladies.

I'm thinking of getting them online because there are 5 of them & it will be costly to dress them all, so trying to look for a picture online of the type of thing I'm after xx

Yeah, I def think it would be fine, too. Mixing the two fabrics won't make a difference

To be honest with you, I don't think I have seen that many brides that wear the same dress fabric as the bridesmaids......

I was really worried about this as I have 4 myself and they are all different sizes, heights and hair colours!
I found a dress that I originally loved and was worried it wouldnt suit my red headed bridesmaid who was slightly larger then the other girls but after trying it on she actually looked STUNNING in it so i was all set for them all to the same dress.................then I changed my mind about colour lol
So they will still have the sanme style and material they just will now be all in black rather then burgandy hehe

Get the girls together and try some on. You'll be surprised at what actually suits them that you thought wouldnt

I was wondering this as well. I only have 1 BM and said she can choose her own dress as long it's the right colour but I was worried about the kind of fabric she'd go for. I'll have to ask her if she has any thoughts on it.
