I need help and advice! I have 4 very different bridesmaid, 2 blondes who always wear tan (blue eyes and green eyes so are naturally quite pale), one light brunette, one very dark brown with pale skin. Also different sizes and shapes. What colour????? I saw a lovely chiffon dress I want for them and I loved it on all of them but can't decide on a colour. I love red/pink shades like wine or burgundy and really like raspberry but one of my bridesmaids said this is the worst you could choose for blondes?? not sure I agree. She wants brown or gold, champagne or beige and I don't really fancy that as my scheme at all. I'm getting a sample sent of the chiffon dress in sangria which is basically wine/dark red. Do you guys think this colour will suit blondes and brunettes - please be honest I don't want to dress them in something they'll look ridiculous in!

Sounds like the colour would suit both blonde and brown haired. Have a look in my wedding stuff photo folder on my profile Leesy as my bridesmaid dress is a claret wine red colour and the model in the picture is blonde, may help you decide. xx

if you loved the dress on them in red!!! why not choose a selection of colour from the red pallet, rasp and burg are very close with different colour tones, l have blue and my best maid will be in a lighter blue than the other four b'maids who like you have varied shades of brown to black hair and dark to light skin, with my best maid being blonde with pure white see through skin lol xxx

there is no reason why blondes shouldnt wear red. dont let them tell you wot colour to hav, let them have sum input and make sure they all suit your colour choice and feel comfy in it, but at the end of the day its your wedding and your choice of colour xx

Im blond with very pale skin (see my pic) and I love clarets/burgundy plus I think as ts quite a deep colour it suits most shapes. Im not slim by any stretch of the imagination but I think its quite a slimming colour. My dress is claret and ivory. Like Kaya and other brides will say....your day your way! xx

OMG, they wear what YOU want, not what they want. Raspberry looks fine on blondes, if you go online and look at dresses, go on dessy.com, you can try different colors on each dress just choose a different model and find a colour you like see if it suits. Dont let them tell you what colours to have its your day, my friend had a bloned fair skinned and a dark haired olive skinned Bridemaid, she had like a royal red colour and it looked stunning on both, its your day they will wear what you want, dont forget you can create a great look once hair and make ups done to. Hope you sort it, feel for you! x

I think that bridesmaid maybe didn't like the dress? so she said the colour was wrong? I'm very blonde and I can wear anything, I think dark reds, pink etc go well with red heads and blondes .... it's your wedding so the final say should be yours really

Thanks for all the advice guys think they'll just need to like it or lump it!! Don't think people realise it's not just the dress they're wearing - this dictates my whole colour scheme from flowers to invitations to favours and hall decor. I'm putting my foot down! cheers x

OK. I have 5 BM's. 3 x blonde and 2x brunette! They are all wearing claret and they all look fantastic!
They may like it better when it is on - my observation about the raspberry is I am blonde and wouldn't be keen but the burgundy/wine colour should be fine for everyone! Best of luck xx

I had the same problem - 4 bridesmaids - 1 blond, 1 light brown, 1 dark brown and 1 red head! It was a nightmare. I chose a royal purple colour (whiched matched our thistles anyway). I thought it might be a bit dark for a spring wedding but chose a good material so they looked fantastic! I will put some photos on when I get chance.

I have a blondey in my wedding party and my colour scheme is Fuschia pink. I think the only hair colour you really have to be careful of is red, otherwise it should be fine. xx

Since this is related I'm doing it here.

My bridesmaids will be wearing red although I have one adult and a 5 yr old flowergirl in the UK and a 10yr old girl in US? Now my colour is known as claret here, any ideas what it is in the US - think it may be apple but uncertain??????

Kimi this is a description I found online of the difference between claret red and apple red:-

claret is more a maroon/deep burgundy, just like a glass of wine its a rich deep colour, its a deep red with a lot of blue hughes

apple red is a much brighter red, with orange taints

Hope that helps a little. xx

*not read all the thread so apologies if I duplicate*

..errrrrrrrrrr WHY are you fretting about colours your BM's have dictated?!

Leesy - I am thinking this is YOU wedding and YOU have whatever YOU wish - if you wish to consider BM's hair colourings etc than great BUT ... do me a fav hun STOP pandering to others 'whims' this wedding is about your dreams etc NOT the colours/whatever you BM's like!

thanx spooney - may just send my swatch to my sis and sort it that way. May solve the issue. But only sorting my mates dress in jan so plenty of time before its priority. :)
