    Hi there!
I was wondering if anyone has been in the same situation as me and if they have they could help me. I have 3 bridesmaids and I got all of there dresses last september and they were all made to measure. Well my wedding is in 3 months and not one of there dresses fit any of them properly.

With 3 months to go it is a bit of a worry!! How can I tell them to slim down without being nasty? Any advice would be appreciated!!

    Thank you :)

Ooh difficult one. I've got all of my bm's dresses but won't have them fitted until about 8 weeks before the wedding. I did this to accommodate any potential baby bumps. How much do they not fit by? If it's not a lot then they are probably aware that they need to lose a little bit.

I'd personally just says, "guys, you've got 3 months for these dresses to fit, let's do this" in a jokey way x

They have all tried them on recently and it was probably stupid of me to get the dresses so early but I am a bit like that lol!! I don't want to hurt there feelings and I think they do know about the weight loss. The zips won't do up!!!! xx

Why don't you say "girls, there's 3 months to go and I want to lose a few pounds, why dont we all start a diet (whatever club/thing you choose to say) and support me in losing weight." Each of you put a tenner in and you could say whoever loses the most weight by the wedding gets to keep all the money?!

    Worth a try? Xxx

I agree with all of your suggestions. I just don't want to be a nasty cow. I just find it annoying because the dresses were not that cheap and they were made to measure. Obviously its just been christmas and everyone over indulges but still!! xx

Have any of them said anything to you?

I would have if I were them, I would have said something along the lines of, ''wow best get back into gear with loosing weight''

Surely they know and don't need to be told as won't think they can go with unzipped dresses?

i don't think its fair to ask them to lose weight at all i know if it was me not only would i be upset but id be angry too i'd just maybe ask them to pay for alterations if they don't fit xx

I think if they don't fit they should pay for alterations! I'm getting mine made to measure too and one of h2bs sisters wants to lose weight for the wedding but I've said I can't wait any longer to order them and have said if she loses weight she'll just have to pay for the alterations herself, which she was happy to do x

I agree with having them pay for alterations. Perhaps you could all try and lose weight together first and then if the dresses still don't fit they're responsible for paying to have their dresses taken out.

Maybe i'm a bit too blunt about weight loss, when i got engaged i text all 4 of my sisters saying "get dieting, don't want any fat bridesmaids!!" obviously it was a joke and also broke the news to them but i suppose it was a bit like "haha...but seriously" type of moment!! Oops!

Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind i guess, i still think try the diet idea and give them the incentive to lose weight to earn the "prize money" so to speak but if they aren't all for it then just be honest and say the dresses need altering. Either way you have to mention something that refers to weight gain or you say nothing and they wear dresses that don't fit. As long as you fit in your dress it doesn't matter, they are the ones who will have to deal with looking a bit silly when their dresses don't fit.

    Hope you get it sorted!

    xxx

It's just dawned on me that they obviously know the dresses didn't zip up and so they're probably already trying to lose a few lbs without you having to say anything.
