Not sure if we get a tasting but I'm not that bothered because I'm not into my posh food that much! Everyone that's been says the food is amazing though but luckily not many people have been as its more one of the up and coming wedding venues of the time so makes it a bit more special that lots of people will have never seen it before .. The ballroom is beautiful with lots of light and then has a garden room attach so it's really light and airey :)

Just trying to catch up, I can't read anything when I'm at work 1) the signal is dreadful and 2) I don't think ladies in labour would appreciate me being on my phone while they are trying to have a baby lol.

RE invites, I am an only child and my dad really wants the invites to be from him (he is paying for the majority but OH parents are contributing quite a considerable amount aswell) so we are going to do it from both our parents.

Top table decorations I am really struggling with, OH isn't a fan of the long and low.

I don't think our wedding package comes with food tasting but think we are going to pay for it. We are having a veg option and then a choice of 2 meats, one is lamb but I can't decide on the other. Its a choice between salmon, chicken or beef. x

Thank you.... I just remembered about a company on the book of face who do them £4.95 per hanger....

Quick question though, I have my MOH, Junior bridesmaid and then what i thought 2 flower girls...... whats the difference between flower girls and Bridesmaids?? sorry thats probably a really daft question?!

At what age do flower girls become bridesmaids?? Both girls will be 6 years old?!

    Thanks

Flower girls I think are more just there to look cute and to drop petals if desired .. I think a bridesmaid is more to help the bride organise as well so I'd say 6 is still a flower girl I might be wrong though

Sarah your menu looks lovely. Have you any ideas what you would like? We are picking one starter and one flavour of soup (with veg option for both) then for main we are giving an option between 2 (one will be lamb cause we love it) and then again we are picking one dessert.

We haven't been able to pick a starter or flavour of soup yet, thinking of sticky toffee pudding with salted carmel ice cream for dessert though. If I can find the menu online I will post it for you to have a look.

We haven't thought about starters yet but it will prob be one soup and one then either prawns or the pate, cant narrow down the mains but thinking one of these 3 -

Roast Sirloin of Beef*, Yorkshire Pudding & Red Wine Sauce
Breast of Chicken Stuffed with Haggis, Whisky Brose
Roast Breast of Chicken Black Pudding Bon Bon’s, Peppercorn Sauce

    Deserts -
Sticky Toffee pudding with Hot Butterscotch Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream
Dark & White Chocolate Mousse with Pistachio Nut Soil and Shortbread
    Strawberry Cheesecake, Crème Anglaise
    Trio of chefs desserts

So hard to narrow it down! lol but we've said lets just each pick one of each we like and that will be the choice lol.

I will find out who the veggies are first and ask them what choice they would prefer! But I cant think of anyone who is veggie!

I love lamb too Leanne and your pudding sounds like heaven to me I love salted caramel xx

I think its best to try the food then you can make a def decision. My friend helens friend was due to get married at our venue (she cancelled it 6 weeks before) Helen was her MOH so she had went with to the tasting and she said the lamb was the best and that the beef wasn't great, so we've swayed away from it already. Need to go and have a tasting ourselves really though, everyone has different tastes don't they. xx

I think we've decided what we would probably have from the menu at the moment but I reckon it's probably changed since we booked the venue and got given our wedding pack as they've become quite heavily food focused and the chef has been entered into competitions etc. so I think they would have had a refresh! I follow the head chef on Tw1tt3r where he posts lots of photos of his creations, they look soo amazing!!! xx

I think we'd decided on a duck dish with sweet chilli jam for starter, a chicken dish with dauphinoise potatoes and various other things for the main and a trio of chocolate deserts - think a brownie, a cheesecake and a mousse from the top of my head! But we are definitely expecting this to change so we're not "set" on it xx

Ours is quote boring compared to yours as I'm really fussy as is my sister. Think we're going for leak and potato soup, then chicken wrapped in bacon with mash and a Yorkshire pud, then sticky toffee pudding (something chocolately for me though as I don't like stp but they said anyone on the top table can have whatever they like which I thought was good.

Trying to get mini fish and chips cones for canapés on arrival and then hopefully a barbeque for the evening Reception

Sounds good Becci, I would happily demolish all of those things! Yeah we thought a trio would be the best bet as someone surely has to like something on the plate, and if they didn't like something they could do a swapsies with someone else. We might see if they could do a trio of other things also so it's not all chocolate, maybe a vanilla cheesecake, chocolate mousse and a sticky toffee pud or something xx

Nothing wrong with safe. To be honest we will probably try to pick the safest things from the menu in order to try and please the majority of people. We were thinking of a risotto for starter as more people would probably like that over duck - BUT having re-read the menu again the other night the duck just sounds soooo good!!!! So stuff them. Haha xx

With our venue we dont have a food tasting but they have great reviews on their food and we did go for valentines day last feb and had such a lovely 3 course meal. I'd be tempted to do it again (they offered a package of meal, free bottle of wine, overnight stay and valentines treat (a cute cake from a local bakery). If they did it again next year i'd be so tempted to go even though it'd only be 3 months till the big day!

Our next meeting with our venue is late november - exciting! Xx

I'm going to steer clear of jewellery purely because I aren't really a jewellery person so I don't really know what's good and what's not and I don't want to spend much on the gifts due to the price of their dresses. I usually find any jewellery I get i never wear which feels rude
