Your glasses have taken a long time to arrive Flossie! Our post man always leaves our parcels either next door and or behind our fence where you can't see when you walk in but other people could walking past, and never leaves a note, so annoying, the amount of times parcels have been behind there for days and I haven't noticed! Needless to say I check behind there every day now lol!

Lindsay its a bespoke jewellers in Alderley Edge, called H3nry D J0hnst0n. I found him at a wedding fair. He has been really helpful and is making both our rings.

Had a rough few days myself (wedding related) as me and my mum have fallen out over something very silly but that has thrown up lots of other stuff so we're not talking at the moment. We're both stubborn too so not sure any of us will give in. She has claimed that she's not coming on my hen weekend even though she will lose money on flights but I will leave it with her for now.
The last time we fell out like this, we didn't speak for about 2 months and even then, the only reason we started talking again was because it was mothers day and I had to go round as I couldn't just miss mothers day, I am not that kind of person.
Oh well, sorry for ranting ladies, just needed a little whinge x x

Fingers crossed everything works out Nicola, I'm sure your mum wouldn't want to miss out on your hen, it was probably just something she said in the spare of the moment.
We are in a similar situation at the moment, OH has stopped speaking to his dad, cut him out of his life completely and uninvited him to the wedding, all for a perfectly acceptable reason, but it's so hard thinking about the both of them because they did used to be close and I know FIL wouldn't want to miss the wedding no matter what he has done. As much as I support OH in not speaking to him I am quite upset that he won't have his dad there and upset for FIL that he won't get to see him get married.

Thanks Nicola. Poor you, hope you's sort it out. Maybe your mum just needs some time to cool off. My dad and I have had words yday over the save the dates, I rang him this morning and he is still being off so I am just leaving him to it. Isn't funny how a wedding is such a wonderful time but it can cause so much stress aswell. Hope you are ok xx

At first I thought it would just be a few days but OH seems to be dead set on never speaking to him again, I do understand but I think that they might talk at some point, his dad called last night and he was debating calling him back for a while so he is definitely in 2 minds about it. I hope they do make up but FIL has a lot of making up to do which I don't think he will try to do he's the type of person that just brushes things off and think that everything is ok next time you speak.

I doubt it, he left a message last night saying 'have you fell out with your dad' whilst laughing, so he's clearly not taking it seriously. I feel stuck in the middle because I don't want OH to lose his dad as he didn't see him for years as a child but I 100% agree that he needs to be cut out of OH's life. OH did say though if he goes into the RAF and we have to move he will meet up with him to clear the air because he probably won't see him for a few years so that's a good sign xx

Sorry to hear you had a family issue too Emma - it's a nightmare isn't it?? I have got upset over the wedding 3 times now and all 3 times have involved my mum unfortunately. My OH can't believe that my mum is being the way she is but to be honest, I can as she is quite a selfish person. It's a shame that such a wonderful event in life can cause so much trouble for people.
I hope that your situation with OH and FIL works out for you Emma.

Thankfully we haven't had many problems to do with the wedding, this one just happens to be not long before. I have had a few people try to tell me how to do things when it has nothing to do with them though which is annoying! You just have to focus on the positives and I'm sure everything will work out in the end :)

Luckily we've not had many problems either. There have been little things but nothing big and nothing that has resulted in an argument. The main problem we're going to have is when the invites go out - we don't want to invite my uncle, his wife and their 2 kids, but we are going to be pressured into inviting them even if just to keep the peace. We don't even want to invite them to the evening but will do as a compromise, which I think is more than fair enough given the circumstances, but we shall seeee... That problem started before we'd booked the wedding though.

I think that one thing I have learnt above anything else is that it's your wedding so do it how you want it and don't try to please others. I am sick of treading on eggshells with my mum when she suggests something that I don't like an I have to try and agree but say no in a way that doesn't upset her!! I said to my OH last night, the only people that NEED to be there is me, him and a registrar, everyone else is a bonus! At the end of the day, as long as we end up married, that's all that matters

Very true Nicola. The main thing we had was FIL was telling us who we had to invite from his family and just presuming all his brothers and sisters (he is one of 12) were going with their partners and kids! OH only knows a few of them so would only be inviting a hand full but that would have caused problems, that could be sorted now though as if FIL doesn't go, his family won't be either as OH never speaks to them.

Its so hard trying to please everyone. I feel so guilty that my dad is upset but OH wanted to do the save the dates himself. No matter what I did some one would have been upset. We've also have a few issues about guest list and children being invited x

That is the hard thing - not wanting to upset anyone, but at the same time it is your special day and you deserve to have it exactly how you want. I am scared I'm going to upset my dad by not inviting his brother and my grandparents by not inviting one of their sons, but at the end of the day I just don't want them there, and an evening invite would be more than a compromise that everyone should be happy with. It is hard though and I have no idea how I'm going to deal with it all when the time does actually come for the decision to made.

Both of our families have actually been brilliant throughout the whole process though. We are really lucky, especially considering we have 4 lots of family between us as both our parents are divorced and re-married/re-partnered. If a distant uncle, auntie and 2 cousins who I've never met are our only problem then to be honest I'm thrilled with that! Lol.

I have a similar predicament insofar that my Aunt's 13 year old son has had to be invited. He is a little **** to put it bluntly and beats my Aunt black and blue. I really don't want him there in all honesty as I think what he puts my Aunt through is unforgivable. My Aunt has now met somebody special and I'd like to invite her new partner to the wedding as everybody else is going to be there with their partners. The problem is my 13 year cousin refuses to meet her new partner, so feel like I've got to choose. I know who I'd rather be there, but going to have to speak to my Aunt and agree what is the best thing to do.

The ribbon I ordered off the bay came today and I'm not overly impressed. The photo showed it as practically the reddy/pinky/ coraly colour as my bm dresses but it's come and it's more like a dusky coral .. Not great

We've got groom, 3 best men, page boy and 2 dads suits to hire so it's going to be expensive with those so at least we are making a saving on 2 now

We have decided to buy our suits for the men and have seen a nice one in N3xt and we can get the jacket, waistcost and trousers for £109 per person so it's probably not going to be too much more than hiring them. Cravats and handkerchiefs are being made at our bridal shop in same colour as bridesmaid dress and we will tell them to wear a white shirt and their own shoes. We have 6 adult suits to buy and one for my little nephew who's 6 but T3sco had a very reasonable one so will go with that as he'll only end up rolling around the floor etc lol

We're looking at FG dresses form the bay, don't want to spend too much on them as I know they will all get in a mess with food and running around and rolling on the floor etc. I don't want to be watching them all day thinking 'will you be careful in the dress, it cost a fortune' lol

I think I'm going to get my FG's dress from 3tsy, think it's on the bay too though. It's a china one. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a nice lemon dress in the UK!
